John Terry at the age of 37, and after a very good season in the Championship, has apparently told Villa that if they get promotion to the PL, he is prepared to go round again with them next season, as long as he can stand down in games against Chelsea. Steve Bruce has agreed immediatley, such is his respect for the man and the player. This must be a first for any player in any League, and shows what we have missed all season. Honesty, passion, love of the shirt, loyalty, and plain old fashioned morals. Brilliant JT, from one who has criticised you in the past, but won't in the future. Surely this man deserves an important roll at the Bridge when those boots finally get hung up.
Being from the Midlands I know a great many Villa fans that were horrified when JT first came to their club, by the end of his first season with them he has totally turned opinion around and almost to a man/woman they admire him for what he does on the pitch.
Legend of the game and one of our all time greats. Would be nice to see him and Lamps back in some capacity in the future.
yeah, we should give them a chance to make it as a manager with us. Lamps who i always thought was a bit brainless has seemed okay as a pundit when i have seen him speak. Sure JT will be good too tactically wise. Speaking of which, who you reckon we will get as manager. Obviously you got the usual names like Allegri and Simeone bandied around. Sarri from Napoli is one and as a wildcard Jokanovic is another. I hope if we get Sarri or the Joker we give them some time because both started pretty poorly with Napoli i think before they got their ideas down and the players they wanted. Both play attacking and attractive footie so at least that'll be a good change.
I think Sarri might happen. He's unemployed now isn't he as Napoli have got Ancelotti so we'll just have to pay off the rest of Contes contract. I don't even care if we don't win anything next season I just want some decent football, it's been horrendous to watch this season.
Nice sentiment and all that but I think it's silly to be honest. He's contracted to them so he should play every game. What if playing against us depended on them getting relegated?
That's not the case, Sarri's contract needs to be paid off and Napoli are asking for Luiz to go the other way to make it happen.
I see. So they can effectively employ two managers at the same time and just end the contract of Sarri whenever they wish? It's a bit confusing!
Sarri has a clause valid until end of May which means until then, which is less than a week, a fee is due Napoli . There was some talk of Luiz going to Napoli in lieu of the fee. That would be a pity as we needed Luiz desperately. As for Sarri, nice football, pity he never wins anything. Also never plays youngsters, certainly not at Napoli. Wouldn't be my choice, that would be the Fulham manager or Jodie Morris. On the other hand, it makes no difference, we will be getting another one in 18 months anyway.
Yeah I know what you mean. Any excitement or disappointment we feel about the next managerial appointment will be pointless to be honest, because, as you say, either way, it will only be temporary.
Being in a state of flux all the time seems to fill our trophy cabinet nicely but I know we all want stability even if it comes with a few less trophies.
