I would imagine the JT AF trial has been reported over there and has coincided with the end of the season/Euros/start of the Olympics and he's being interviewed a fair bit while home.

I think he's quite entitled to put his view of what happened across, yes it was a while ago now, but just because it was done to death over here (in a very one sided fashion) and we have moved on doesn't mean that he wont be asked about events of 5 or 6 months ago when he goes home. Let’s face it if he is as sensitive as we are led to believe it will have been festering away and it doesn't matter which side of the fence you sit on, he didn't get the best press over here to try and explain and give prospective, so probably choose to take the opportunity when asked. I am happy he did if it means he's getting it out of his system and comes back more fortified.

I also think they will have a different view of it back there. I read the expert stuff in the "115" page FA report (The trial report for JT&AF is available from the BBC compiled under proper evidential rules by the court and is 15 pages long, I think the FA know the meaning of the word "obfuscate") about how the use of the offending word can mean one thing when said this way or another but frankly his audience back home will know exactly without any dissection or scrutiny if he was being offensive, friendly, or racist. If his audience unequivocally believe he was not being racist they will wonder why their national hero and captain of their Olympic team was treated like an alien by a country and football organisation that still thinks its ahead of the game in these matters and maybe concur, wrongly, the FA are racist toward them.

You can disagree to what he's saying but his right to say it should be sacrosanct (was going to throw in that quote by Voltaire but don't know what it is and I'm already sounding like a right pretentious t*at).

I am still thinking the JT-AF news must have prompted the question over there surely
