Everything should not have to become an indirect pop at a club. The guy demonstrated some human affection. I think that is important.

i think there's enough obscene money in football that it should be mandatory to solve the problems that sees charities being set up. That though would have the do gooders screaming Communism...and greedy bastards crying about their liberties. Then the red tape and pen pushers would kick in and so the cycle continues. In general I don't care if football does alot for the needy, because I will always think it's a greedy sport and does not do enough.

I am glad that the devastated family of the young lad can afford a special headstone...that must be a comfort to them. I also hope it makes Terry feel he wants to do other worthwhile things with his time and money cos that will benefit others and himself.
It was a kind thing to do.
As for not getting credit...Adebayor gets dogs abuse but gives away **** loads of money so it aint just Terry that gets little or no credit. In many ways credit is kind of irrelevant. .. many of us doing kind things for various reasons and do not seek credit for doing them.
But like I said people sharing acts of kindness can only be a good thing

Do those names you've mentioned have threads about them doing something nice and fans talking about them not getting enough credit?? No.

I'm not dismissing what he's done at all. I'm simply saying that giving to charity should be its own personal reward and not require any recognition. I even added that I'm sure that's also the case with him. I wasn't criticising JT but the clamour by some chelsea posters on here for him to receive credit and that somehow if he doesn't receive it then it's a crime, despite the fact ALL the footballers you and I have just mentioned do exactly the same. <ok>

I only commented on Drogba and Ronaldo bcos as I said it was my personal view - I have a higher regard for both in the way they conduct themselves off the pitch including the charitable work they do, not solely bcos of it.

What Drogba has done in his country is miraculous, he should be made a saint.
This thread was only created because JT has an especially negative reputation compared to some other footballers, it was more to show he does good like everyone else, not that he deserves special treatment.

Terry has twins who are only slightly older than this poor lad. As a dad I'm sure he was very touched and saddened by the boy's passing as life and death is all just so random. Fair play to him. Even if his PR people told him to do it, he didn't have to, I suspect he just wanted to.
