He's not really been as good as last season, but at the same time I can't really recall him making many mistakes; I guess you could say he has been indifferent this season as opposed to superb for the two before that.
Its over simplifying to use that one statistic. Would you say that Mannone has been twice the keeper Ruddy has this season? Because that is what seems to be suggested by presenting this one stat. I could find a statistic about any player in the league that makes them look bad. Think we will have to agree to disagree on this.
I didn't say any of that. I found two statistics and I had my own observation. It's not that we disagree, it's that you think I said something I didn't. Unless you disagree that the disparity between the two stats is surprising, unusual and not easily explained away by the somewhat simplistic argument of "oh, but it doesn't show the whole picture". Well of course it doesn't. The pertinent point though, is what picture does it show?
I'd add that Ruddy's control of his box limits the number of shots he has to deal with by taking the ball so frequently at crosses and corners. Ruddy has also had more clean sheets and I'd of course those stats are tempered by the fact that we've had some very poor defensive games, of which Ruddy should take his share of the blame.
Perhaps putting one of our best players under the magnifying glass ,before arguably the biggest game since Fulham away last time we had to not lose is not great for morale ? But what do i know.
