I thought he was... You know... One of them. Drinking kiwitinis and wearing mankinis and stuff... Hold on. Does being gay just consist of **** loads of 'inis?
Sorry Dorset, O'Shea is a half decent player in my opinion but, he sees himself as bigger than us so can't see him coming. His drink of choice is a Bloody Mary by the way.
Brucey , that 'San Miguel o'clock', is that the same time that we know over here in Oz as 'Four Thirsty' ?
That just made me whince a little. Each to their own marra, although I did see an interesting way of commiting self punishment on a dodgy video in Germany years back. It entailed standing on a rather high bridge, bollock naked with a length of sturdy string and a big boulder. One end of the string was tied to the boulder and the other end was tied to the blokes bollocks. I'll let you guess what he did next!
If true, John O'shea would be much better than just a steady signing IMO. Oozing with Champions League, Premiership and international experience, I see him very much in that Steve Bould elder statesman role, marshaling the defence and lending a bit of calm and quality to our too often panicky back 4. At only 30years of age, he would bring a garage full of honours: 5 EPL titles 1 FA Cups 3 League Cups 1 Champions League 1 FIFA World Club Cup 70 Caps 255 games for one of the worlds biggest clubs. Now, I dont give a rats arse what anyone says, thats ****ing impressive and light years better than what we currently have at the club.
As some have already said, he's a strong shout to become our captain if he comes to Sunderland. His experience and pedigree is there for all to see. A very good signing if we can get him.
I have to say O'Shea would be our best signing this season so far - including Gardner and Wickham Gibson I have to say I can't see the point of anymore - would he replace Catts in the midfield?! As a squad player fair does but hes that at Man U, he can play full time elsewhere and tbh i reckon we can do better. We are in much more need of defenders than anything else. Gotta be looking at Roger Johnson surely and what about trying to convince Parker to join us instead of someone like Spurs or Arsenal (where I think he'll end up?) Ok its a massive longshot but we clearly have ambition and the ball is already rolling. I say take a risk break the bank (i.e. 70k a week) see if hes tempted coz hes only gonna last 4 seasons tops anyway (thats only 3.65M a season which is EASILY exceeded by the potential European money we can get if he plays like he did this season)
My point was is that we're close to the correct no of midfielders now. We need a real top notch signing in CB - Johnson and CM - Parker (and Welbeck - mentioned in a different thread) Contrary to what many believe I dont think we need wingers anymore. Sess will defo start on one with most likely Larsson on the other. Ricco, Elmo and even Gardner could play on the wings too. One more won't hurt but tbh I'd take O'Shea, Brown (for squad), Welbeck, Quality CB and Quality CM and I reckon we're laughing. Total cost shouldn't exceed Darren Bent's fee (unless we sign Welbeck) as their ages should knock price down
