lol, I know turnover is vanity Dave, but we weren't having an accounts review were we? I was merely dismissing the 'small' put down that you chucked at me. I didn't say LFC were going to pop did I? I merely countered your ridiculous assertion that only the cumulative of all transactions matters. Each transaction is a separate stand alone deal, & in football transfer market they're unique to each player & the desire of AN other club to take them on. Your persistent stance that this decision has some tangible cultural value, that at a later date will impact the bottom line is nothing more than fanciful nonsense. Stick to your books mate.
Henry also made a great speech. What are you doing trying to score points with "our memorial speech was better than yours"? Just leave the topic.
You're not worthy of further comment from me, please do not respond to any more of my posts, as you won't get any future responses. I've given you a couple of chances, but you've **** it over this as far as I'm concerned. Lower than a rattles snakes belly & now you're furiously back peddling, save it love.
Bit out of order there mate. While I don't think I've ever agreed with Tobes, in this situation I viewed his comment as contrasting the whimsical [Corrie picture you put up] with the serious side of the man [an event that brought both sides of our great city together]. Scousers united.
Yeah we can all be immensely proud of the unity the city has shown but to suddently bring that up in a such a mild thread seemed out of nowhere, and if his original comment was in reference to Kenwright's speech as he now says then it seems disrespectful to blank Henry's contribution. My first response was to acknowledge both Henry and Kenwright being class at the memorial but he seems intent to go off on one.
The highlighted bit is the salient piece as that comment was what sparked my response you dolt, but you knew that eh? Just leave it ffs lad, even your own have abandoned you here, that should tell you something.
You have to remember Tobes that I played on both sides of the fence - relatively successfully. So I'm not just talking theoretically. Neither am I claiming a cultural profit. When the organisation isn't working properly (ie in the best interests of the firm) then you've got to fix it and fixing it costs money - or deferred profit if you want to put it that way! So you can limit your operations to what appears profitable today and fail to adapt your organisation purely because you can't see an immediate profit. You're just repeating the cycle of the British motorcycle industry. No wonder we have no way out of this depression with that type of myopic management.
Whooaahh Dave, you've leapt about 4 furlongs there bud. We've gone from my dismissing your view that IN THIS CASE, there's no chance of any tangible cultural benefit to LFC that would offset any potential loss on the player next year. To you deciding that I see no benefit in any form of people / cultural investment in business per se & comparing my management style to the British motorcycle industry I'm crying laughing here mate, thanks for brightening up a dull Friday afternoon
Marca, Real's tabloid player-destabilising rumour mill and with good links to the club, did say that Pere Guadiola and Real had been working out a deal behind the scenes, but this may have been for the benefit of the Spurs bid. http://www.marca.com/2013/05/30/en/football/real_madrid/1369899845.html
We only lose if we get less than £24m [less amortisation?]. And there's every chance of 'tangible cultural benefit'. We'd like to think that the notion we're an easy touch is dispelled. But whatever happens in future transfer negotiations, the very clear message from the owner is play fair.
Er, no. I remember when everybody thought they can't be as bad as H&G but once bitten, twice shy. So he's willing to waste a 40m+ payday for the club and let Suarez stew to prove a point. Supposing we'd held onto Torres and not bothered buying Suarez with the money? Would you be applauding him for his massive cajones or suggesting he cut his nose off to spite his face and left us with a worthless donkey?
So what would your comments be if they sold to Arsenal for £40m? They can not win with you so why waste your time posting?
Slightly different conditions there - Torres was playing like a drain and had done for 18 months; Suarez just finished a season with a shout for PL Player of the season.
40m payday? I know that's a lot of money for a transfer but we aren't skint. Quite frankly as has been said before, we have more money than we do outlets to spend it on. What good is 40m if we can't convince any players worth that much to join us? Before this gets personal though - I'd like to point out that yes, JH made a calculated risk in this. We aren't going to get many offers of 50m + this window, or even in January possibly. But Real have not shown one bit of concrete interest - according to Luis himself, and they are one of the market leaders in inflating prices. I don't think JH cares about getting egg on his face about selling him - as long as that doesn't interfere with our plans in the PL. If he is forced to accept a lower offer or not is irrelevant. It shows a determination that is needed in football. It deters mercenaries from signing for us in the future, it damages Arsenal right now, and it definitely appeases the fans. Suarez, after being nearly guaranteed that the PFA or FA cannot force Liverpool to sell, is now in a dark spot. That's what we need. We don't need 40m - it's nice and it could be a "payday" but Henry seems to be doing fine financially and the club stand to lose more than that if they sell him. How you may ask? The loss of CL is almost guaranteed, as well as it sends a sign to future world stars that we are simply a stepping stone. What if Coutinho learns from this that he can just whine and beg to go abroad and he will get it, because the fans can't stand not getting 40m? It just shows everyone that we aren't serious about our footballing goals - only our financial ones. This sends an awful message to the fans, and the players. It also forces the players to come to the club with a moral compass pointing them towards the Liverpool Way.
