What colour Barton blinkers did you select for today Sylvio Igor is quite right - we talking about Barton's performances for QPR in the Championship. He has been very good for us at this level. Probably he will be just about good enough in the PL again, as he was before except for his discipline, but that is not relevant until the summer, if we go up which will be a very pleasant surprise for me now.
Jock, you , Igor and plenty of others stand dazzled by the light pouring our of Barton's arse. There's plenty of space for a couple of dissenting voices. You can obviously detach his performances, when not suspended or injured, this season from his character as a human being. I can't. I will never get the image of him kicking Aguerro in the back of the leg, while his back was turned, out of my head whenever Barton's name is mentioned. He's a coward, in my view, and it does the club no credit at all that he wasn't kicked out on the spot. I'd think the same if he were as talented as Messi. Not having any time for this prat is in no way wishing our team to do badly - the opposite. 4 wins on the trot without him, he comes back - draw.
You just dont give up do you...? Why would you because here is freedom of opinion. In my eyes that little argy son in law is a fantastic footballer but also a cheat as is his then team mate Tevez and i myself wanted sometimes to kick them. Nevertheless it was very bad deed from joey but Barton "done the time" for it so let it be cos it wasnt a murder althought sometimes sound it when selective bunch talks about it. We all have players we just gont stand for myself its that swedish donkey žlatan ibrahimovits. Anyway i started this thread about joeys sublime pass which led to our important equaliser. Very few have noticed it.
Nope not dazzled at all - though Barton is is very creative on occasion that's not really the core of his game. Apart from Kranscjar occasionally and slightly, I haven't been dazzled much by any of our players this season, or since Adel was lighting up our performances. As for what he did and what was done to him at Man City, that's old history for me now. Time to move on and judge him on what he's doing for us on the park this season.
It was a good pass but as was pointed out by SB one of them had to come off. He tries his Hollywood ball minimum 3 or 4 times a game with a fairly low success rate and often when there are better and easier options available to him. But fair play to him it was the right decision and thankfully for us this one came off. Does this pass deserve a thread of its own. No chance. Suppose itâs a good thing that he has an inexplicable cult following among our fans because this may feed his ego and help him to deliver more performances like this. He wants to be loved and while he has made it clear he has no loyalty to the club, if that ego is fed then he can help us while heâs here. Over the 90 mins would say he edged Doyle for MOM only because Doyle doesnât yet have the fitness to sustain that level for 90 mins and faded as the game went on
I thought Doyle, Hoilett, Kranjcar did well. I also welcomed back the pace and attacking flair of Traore who I thought had one of his better games for us. However, I thought Barton was the engine of our side, driving us on by example. One or two of our players may have been disappointing on Saturday but almost all of them worked hard and really seemed to want the win. I've not always thought that this season, not right across the team, and I thought Barton's enthusiasm, on his return, in a key game, rubbed off on some of them. And, yes, it was a superb pass. I think he does more of them, with a decent success rate, than he is generally given credit for.
I may do, and deface it in the same way John Lydon did his Pink Floyd t-shirt....time for another music thread?
