He hardly played his best the last few matches, in fact against Arsenal he was poor. Yet we still haven't conceded nor lost. He is a great football player but he isn't irreplaceable.

Horrendously poor decision by the club but we always knew this was coming once they fell out. As I say bad for Pardew and the football side of things in general but the suits are the ones holding the cards so I suppose its just another case of "we move on and look forward" Not great but what can we do, they want him out

Joey can **** off to be honest. I've lost all respect for him.

His hands are not tied. He can stay for another year if he wants to. He should KNOW that Ashley isn't the club, the fans are, and the fans want him to stay so why the hell should he give a **** about Ashley? He's still getting gametime and Pardew wants him.

The fact is, no club have wanted him, and as soon as relegation-candidates QPR have came in with a bumper money offer, he's went. Everything he's said about loving it here, having unfinished business here, having ambition and only leaving for a CL club is a complete load of ****e.

He's even spoke about staying here another year then leaving on a free, so why has no contract offer suddenly changed his mind? Oh yes, the hefty wage offered by QPR.

Joey might be all philosophical now, but we have to remember that he HAS been a thug for most of his life. With that comes personality traits of greed and disrespect which will never quite go away.

what are the chances that he is only going there to get an England cap? We know Capello doesn't come up here, so it seems he might want to get some England caps etc.

Also I hope Stuart Pearce is the next England manager because he will come up here

This lol. He retweets a few Nietzsche quotes and some people say he's an intellectual. Must be the oldest PR trick in the book really, if your current image is 'mindless thug' then quote a bunch of respected philosophers or political heroes so people will assume you have hidden depths.

Didn't Barton famously insult footballers releasing biographys? I fail to see how lists of inane updates on his daily life and thoughts published in such a way to portray a particular image is any different besides the revenue.

So your saying that if your boss offered you a £2.6m golden handshake to leave the building and work somewhere else, when you were to lose your job in a year anyway, you would refuse?? I don't accept any of us would.

The bottom line is we need him in our team to achieve the Ashley goal - finishing 17th and out of both cups nice and early.

I'm more surprised that Joey's leaving than I was when Nolan left - I don't know if it's down to Ashley's poor handling of contract negotiations or greed but we do have previous and it seems to be pretty common - as I can recall we've only taken one player off the transfer list who was struggling with negotiations, and that was Stevie Taylor. Remember that debacle?

He's replaceable, and I'm looking forward to the introduction of players like Marveaux and Gosling (plus that Sochaux guy if we get him), but I'd feel more confident about the season ahead if he was in the side. Especially as, once again, a run of injuries and suspensions will decimate us.

This is a big blow for NUFC as in my opinion he is our most influential player. Not just on the pitch but also in the dressing room and training ground. He leads by example. Committed, Passionate and always up for the fight. Sometimes literally. But most importantly he had quality. Quality service into the box. Last season he was responsible for at least 14 goals via his delivery whether from open play or a set piece.

Whether you like him or loathe him, HE WILL BE MISSED.

Our Le Toon revolution of replacing all of the opinionated senior players with French do as we say fancies, is almost complete. Their is a week left before we bring in a couple more Frenchies in Cissokho and Maiga to complete the Revolution jigsaw.

Carroll, Nolan, Enrique and now Barton have all gone, with Cabaye, Marveaux, Obertan coming in with Maiga and Cissokho to follow to replace them all.

This may turn out to be suicide or a fresh new looking NUFC that actually does quite well. Either way, its a huge transition in just 6 MONTHS. Which in my opinion is a big mistake. We should have ADDED to the senior players like Barton, not REPLACED. This team will miss Barton's influence big time. This will be proved over the course of the season.

All we can do is hope and pray the powers that be (Laurel and Hardy) haven't got us into another fine mess!!

Injuries might prove to the be the biggest problem to a settled team, as we only purchase players with injury records.

Who the hell offered him £2.6million? Barton hasn't been paid off to leave. He's been put on a free transfer but kept on his current contract and wages. He could have stayed for the remaining year, earned his money and played for the 'club he loves' like he had hinted, but once QPR put some money in his face, off he went.

Saying his hands are tied is bullshit and very patronising.

Barton leaving is annoying, but in truth it's been coming for a long time now. He is not irreplacable, he is not the be all and end all of the team. Players will go and players will come. No one man is bigger than the team. As a fictitious man once said "The name on the front of the shirt is more important than the one on the back"
