I personally don't have a problem with the signing whatsoever but I can see why people do- the difference between this and signing someone like a Marlon King, ignoring the differences in their past misdemeanours, is that Barton is so far ahead of what we currently have. Some of the best players in our history have had dodgy pasts- building a team of players shunned for their off field activities is something that excites me and has an element of the Brian Clough about it. As someone who was 6 when we were relegated from this league, it's a damn lot better than seeing Bob Malcolm and Carl Leaburn lumbering about.
