Its the utter hypocrisy in that moment which is stunning. The man starts a problem in the game when the ref could have dealt with Gervinho after the ball goes out. Then after starting the whole thing, does what he is angry at Gervinho for so he can get him sent off. In what world is this right?

 

Barton got stomped on the back of his shin earlier and did nothing.

Gervinho probably dived, but not badly. Barton forcibly pulled the guy up by his shirt from the ground, clearly a violent act, and then went down to the ground when a hand went somewhere near his face. No problem with Gervinho being sent off for the hand, but Barton only receiving a yellow for not only instigating the act but being by far the player who committed the most violence is an absolute joke. You send one off, you have to send the other one off ... Barton should be given a retrospective suspension after the video footage has been looked at (not that I think he's going to play for Newcastle ever again anyway).

 

Then went down like a girl to get Gervinho sent off, in the process making him look like an utter joke live on TV.

tbf i agree that we can't call Gervinho a cheat because Barton did the same thing but players are told to go down if they get hit in the face, it happens all of the time. But because its Barton there is hell to pay. Listened to five live on the way home and not one mention of Song.

 

Look at your own players before bitching about others.

 

if any player gets hit they generally go down.

 

Barton made a mockery of the referee by trying to do his job for him! All of the commentators said that Gervinho would've got a yellow card anyway for the dive, there was no need for Barton to get involved. The referee would've come back to give Gervinho his second booking when the ball went out of play. But Joey couldn't wait that long and decided to get into scumbag mode.
You Newcastle fans are saying 'he just picked him up' - he used two hands on his neck! Gervinho couldn't get away from him, it was clearly a violent act. If someone did that to you in the street, you'd stick up for yourself.

 

And go running to the ref yelling "HE PUNCHED ME!" when they know it's not true?

 

Should of been sent off for diving, was earlier with Ryan Taylor swiping but completely missing him. So should of had 2 yellow cards for diving.
