The gas lost at home to Swindon and with Northampton winning have slipped into the relegation spots again, with an upcoming visit from Sunderland on Saturday.

He is due in court for assault in June.

One of their fans posted "Joey is going to plead guilty, in the hope he gets sent to prison and doesn't have to come back and manage us next season in the 2nd division".

From what I've seen of their goals in the different leagues round up programmes, Sunderland seem very 1 dimensional. If the opposition can stop crosses from the right hand side to the likes of Wyke and co then they don't seem to offer a lot else.
But either way the Sags maybe going down !
 
I’ve absolutely no interest to how Sunderland get on, however the sags going down , no there’s a thought ..

Said from day one of his tenure here he'd struggle with his nepotism baggage.
Now at the biggest club outside the Premiership with rich ambitious backer and budget to go with it.
A shame some didn't forecast his success as I did.

Half way there with your bet RP - fingers crossed for the second half. He couldn't maintain the push with us and we always fell away in the final stages of the season. Maybe with Sunderland things will be different? We are about to find out...........

Sunderland boss Lee Johnson's verdict on 'unlucky' Bristol Rovers, Joey Barton and Wael Al-Qadi
The former Bristol City boss has plenty to say about Bristol Rovers before tomorrow's game

Former Bristol City manager Lee Johnson was full of praise for Joey Barton and Wael Al-Qadi as he prepares his Sunderland side to face Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

Johnson was at the Mem on Tuesday to get a closer look at the Gas, who are on the brink of relegation following the defeat to Swindon Town.

The Black Cats boss believes Rovers and Barton did not get the rub of the green in that game, and he expects to face a team "fighting for their lives".

"Joey has gone to Bristol Rovers, he's brave, it's a good club – obviously I know a lot about it from being in and around the area for so long," Johnson – who was Robins boss for four years following a six-year playing stint at Ashton Gate – said.

"They are fighting for their lives, and there's no better person to have at the helm when they are fighting for their lives because Joey has been a winner all his career.

"I was at the game on Tuesday night, it was a scrappy but committed affair from both teams, and Bristol Rovers were really unlucky because they should have had the first goal – it was never offside – but Swindon then came back into it and scored, and then they defended for their lives.

"They have different threats. Their left wing-back (Luke Leahy) is their top scorer, the two boys up top are a handful and we are going to have to be at our best like against every team in this division."

Johnson never managed the Robins in a Bristol derby, but he recognises the fierce rivalry between the blue and red sides of the city.

He also paid tribute to Rovers owner Wael Al-Qadi, but Johnson's focus is maintaining Sunderland's terrific form and bolstering their hopes of promotion to the Championship.

"It's an intense derby. It's a passionate football city, it's a great city, and two passionate teams.

"I was on the red side of the city for nearly ten years – more as player and manager – and naturally you build up those rivalries.

"Now I'm at Sunderland, though, so it is not about me tomorrow.

"From my point of view, though, there's a lot of respect because there are people at Bristol Rovers that I know very well, that work in the backroom team, and they are great people.

"I think the owner at Bristol Rovers is a fantastic man as well.

"When you're in the city, there's that rivalry just as there is between Sunderland and Newcastle, but there is also a mutual respect."

My boy sounded very professional in his 'presser'.
Have my fingers crossed for another 3 points towards promotion.
If anyone's interested Sunderland are 8/11 to win tomorrow.
