Barton was a solid ball distributing, set piece taking midfielder, but very rarely did he do anything spectacular...which was fine. But now watching Cabaye week in week out, he has an ability to bring me out of my seat, and very quickly is becoming my favourite player. So with that said, although its too early to really say, if I can only have one, I'll take Yohan over Joey every time.

    Jose>santon
    Cabaye>Barton

I am finding it hard to think of a better fullback than Jose in this league. Even in that revolting red shirt he is still awesome pretty much every time he walks on the pitch. He would have done so well for us had he stayed this season.

Joey Barton was a great player to have on the pitch and to support in our promotion season. He loves going up against the big teams and was a large part of why we caused a few upsets last season and i believe he will give exactly the same to the numerous other promoted sides he will probably join over the next few years. In terms of footballing ability however Barton doesn't come close. Cabaye has that extra something that all good teams need to be successful. Something extra and very special in his locker ala Wigan winner.

Apart from the fact he was injured for most of the season?

Barton wasn't worth the aggrevation before he discovered twatter and after he did he became a liability. Yeah he was a decent player but got too big for his boots and wanted to go no matter what crap he fed the fans. Good riddance.

I agree with this. He played well for us and I respected that from him but the last 6 months or so of his being with us he started showing what an annoying git he is by talking to the fans as if he thought we were putty in his hands.
