After today's goal and subsequent tribute to Alejandro Faurlin :emoticon-0170-ninja I thought the comment I made recently warranted its own thread:

Say what you like about him. This season he's been the true captain of the club. A leader on and off the pitch. First name on the team sheet.

:emoticon-0148-yes:

That was a truly 'Cernyesque' OP, Sku ;)

(I do agree with your sentiments though :) )

Well some say a leopard never changes its spots.

But Joey is showing some maturity and leadership, that is credit to him and the club.

I agree, after his antics at City I never wanted to see him in the might super hoops ever again.

I was wrong...

He has made every effort to change and establish himself as a quality captain and a player we need.

I'm ashamed to say that, after he smashed in the equaliser today, I sang "one Joey Barton" for the first time! I'm now going to go into a darkened room to flog myself!! :embarrassed:

If you hadn't posted about this Sku I would have. I agree entirely and feel a lot of the drive, determination and togetherness of this squad is now lead from the front by Joey. He's the epitome of what you need to succeed at this level and long may this continue...

You can see other players targeting him with kicks and elbows hoping he will blow up. Hes done really well, I just wish hed get off twitter.

Best player on the pitch today. Rammed the jb your a c### song down the throats of the reading junior school choir

Like others on here I never expected the Barton we have now but very happy to see the player he has become. I am sorry that an emergency at work kept me from following the match and I was glad for the highlight

And to hold up Faurlin's jersey - a class act - never thought I'd be saying that

absolutely nothing to be ashamed of mate. Joey is different and it's mature for us to recognise that. Harry spoke highly of him on the offish.

Totally agree ...................... As they say in the classics, everybody loves the Barton, how could you not love the Barton, the Barton is good, I like good................ good is good!
