Faurlin is not fit enough after his injury. JB, even if is a total idiot, would bring a bit of steel to our midfield which is very vulnerable with all skills it may have. Some of us seems to forget his good performances during the spring. Please dont bring that last match to this now....Still, all this speculation is needless because surely he don't play for us again.

Igor I agree. He was excellent in the last four home matches I saw and although people won't like this was a major contributing factor to us staying up.

Personally, I would like to see Derry recalled for Saturday's game vs. Stoke. I think we could do with a little extra steel just in front of the back four to take a bit of pressure off Granero and Diakite, both of whom like to get forward.

Although he's done reasonably well in the last couple of games Hoilett would have to make way for me.

I'm not going to waste my time justifying myself or trying to argue with you. Have you watched all of our opening 10 PL games?

And before you go on, i'm aware of how Barton acted at our club etc. 10 games, 0 wins.

There is no way we should take him back. Every team we play will target him, trying to wind him up even more so than before and sooner or later he'll be sent off again.

If it is true that the team are happier without him in the squad then why rock the boat?

Yes, 10 games 0 wins, but that does not mean that we need to create even more problems for ourselves.

Thats the thing, I agree it definitely would create a further problem for us. I just personally believe, purely on a footballing level, our midfield would benefit from having JB (the footballer, not the man) in it. I also think that if he was in our midfield this season, regardless of how many cards he got, what controversy he caused, whether other players disliked him, we would have a win (possibly more than one) from our last 10 games. After all, thats what we all want, right?

I agree last year without him we wouldn't have stayed up. I mean after the Liverpool game. With him we managed to stay up.

    Take issue with that Brix.
More possession in midfield by playing 3 centrally will, by definition mean more chances created imo.

Sorry mate, i really didnt realise you were serious about taking him back....?

OK..NO f-ing way do i want him anywhere near HQ.......

He was a horrible c**t and a sh*te player as well....-for us anyway...

Dont care how far he ran or who he argued with..was a massive negative for our promotion winning team..NO ONE can doubt that !..not even you LC

Seen all our games and what influence would JB of had to improve the outcome? Doesnt play CB as far as i remember and certainly not CF..Dont think we need anything in the midfield, so unless he can play in goal he is totally worthless to us ?..isnt he?

Obviously not being at the games means my view has far less credibilty than those who go (ridiculous) but the point still stands !

Oh mate, come on, i'm speaking hypothetically. I clearly stated in my post before that that i'm aware of what he's done at the club etc. I'm not an idiot, so take your 'precisely's' elsewhere.

Honestly mate, I had a fairly long post written out but I cant be bothered to write it anymore. I think it's lost on some fans/people if im brutally honest. To summarise -

I know what i'm on about, just have to trust me. I'm speaking HYPOTHETICALLY, footballing terms, on the PITCH. Not on about having JB back in the fold, would be ludicrous. Agree with you that he's a c***, wasn't as good as I expected him to be for us. Wouldn't call him s**** though. Defence is a big worry, agreed, Hughes baffled me by not signing another CB. Don't think our attack is far off though, Johnson injured and Cisse/Zamora currently looking uninterested.

The key is BALANCE in the midfield to protect the defence. Currently all over the place, Diakite currently best at imposing himself but still falls short. See him tracking back too much to get in a position he should already be in. Faurlin/Granero both not strong enough defensively and too similar playing style. Taarabt must start every game. Where JB comes in, well rounded footballer, getting stuck in. Would definitely benefit. Would free up others. Granero would need to be pushed in to the Trequartista role. Blimey if that's in summary cant imagine how long my other post was, I was moving on to patterns of play, formations etc...

anyway, I then posted a team which I would currently lean towards. I'm going for more balance/strength and a team that I believe would be hard to break down (with Barton)

    Cesar
    Diakite Nelsen Ferdinand Bosingwa

    Barton M'Bia

    Park Granero Taarabt

    Cisse

Would obviously depend on what team we would be playing, away or home etc. Barton/M'Bia to regularly rotate with Diakite with Fabio filling his role, Park/Hoilett to rotate, Granero/Faurlin to rotate. Cisse/Zamora also. With the current team I would simply swap Faurlin for Barton. Pondered on Fabio or Bosingwa for LB as well.

    Fair enough London,

Personally i do think he would fit in with our new team, pplayers or even "GEL"..

I can see the point about a bit of steel, but just dont think Barton has ever delivered that. IMHO.

    Point taken though !

If you understand French, it would appear that our Joey had a good game.

"one Scouser will be celebrating a Europa League success tonight. For Joey Barton has netted a remarkable goal - directly from a corner - for Marseille against Borussia Monchengladbach."

    Final score: OM 2 M'gladbach 2

If Barton has played for us for this season it would have been easy to find a scapegoat for the catasthropical start of this season. Wouldn't it? Probably we would have just two or three points with Barton. Anyway its just speculation, but do we have a better teamspirit now without Barton ?
