He put on a very doubtful tone when he said "i'd be surprised if the board don't want the success that the players and manager want"...

That oddly seems a very reasonable comment

Lets face it, he's gotta be careful now. It continues to allude to issues behind the scenes....

Maybe they both thought the club would back down and he's actually shocked that Nolan is going and now he's realised he's pretty ****ed.

No doubt that as soon as someone at SSN caught news of Bartons twitter that they immediately hounded him down and wanted an exclusive interview with him

Haven't seen it but going off what people have said on here then fair play to him for coming out and doing this. I reckon he must have realised his twitter comments would be taken and used against him so took it upon himself to clarify his position.

    Very commendable

At least he's honest, unlike most of the tools associated with NUFC.

Would you prefer to live in blissful ignorance? Once Carroll left, and Barton, Nolan turned down the chance to sign contract extensions in January, this outcome was always on the cards.

If NUFC were willing to give Barton a new contract last January (which he was apparently about to sign until the Carroll sale), why not offer the same one to him again now. Could it have been that he upset the powers that be with the comments he made, a few weeks back, at the Sportsman's dinner?

Mike Ashley fancies himself as a bit of a tough cookie, in business. However, Roman Abramovic he ain't.

    Dunno about commendable.

I'd say it's more quick thinking and face-saving. Make an arse of yourself with comments (again) and then explain yourself in a calm and collected manner.

He chose his words very carefully. Very wise. If he does go I hope he lifts the lid on what really happens behind the scenes as it's the only way we'll ever find out.

    This

What the Keegan Tribunal showed , beyond a shadow of a doubt, is that the powers that be at NUFC are not honest in what they say or do. They are successful businessmen, who will do and say whatever is required to achieve their aims

I think his twitter meant that the three of them are likely to be sold. That's probably the truth. I don't think he should be slated for saying what most of us have alreayd suspected.
