Honestly, I can't see the club allowing this to be dragged through the courts which is what would happen if gross misconduct was cited. More likely they are lining up a pay off and a 'mutual consent' arrangement. Sad waste of TF's funds but better than having this splashed on the back pages for months to come. Just please let him be gone from my club.
I certainly hope this has some truth behind it but I think the saga will drag on for a while longer and I expect there will be more than a few twists and turns before it is settled for good. Barton doesn't look like the type who will take his medicine and walk away without a peep out of him. Even if we pay him off with substantial compensation he won't be able to help himself from tweeting ad nauseum.
I hate the bad publicity and unwanted spotlight he has put on our club. Several months ago i managed to secure 12 cans of Guinness. If this turns out to be correct, my secret stash wont last long. Also this could be 12 million available, that the club had committed itself to in Barton's wages. Happy days.
Exactly, theres no way TF is going to waste that. Id offer Barton a couple of hundred k and make him sign that he wont publicly talk or write about anything to do with QPR. If he wont agree to that, sack him without any payment. I dont think Barton can play again while any dispute is going on so he will have to think very hard about this.
If wishes were horses we could all saddle up and join the hunt right now... Joey the self-appointed fox!!
Yorkshire Hoopster is the genuine expert on this, and I recall he felt that, unless there was something bizarre in his contract, Barton could be sacked. Pretty sure he's gone. Who cares what he tweets, he has no credibility.
i cant believe that its going to be that simple to get rid,me thinks this is going to drag on and end up with him getting some sort of payoff, which could be better used on much needed reinforcements
I wouldn't mind but it would depend on the circs. Renegotiated contract maybe, clauses for not paying during suspensions, twitter ban etc. If we had to pay him off then he should be kept as a squad player. Much also depends on factors we don't know about such as his actual influence in the dressing room and how he gets on with others. Basically I'll support the clubs decision whichever way they go as they will be factoring in things that they have knowledge of and which we can only speculate about.
Sadly he should have been out of football years ago but football has no morals. Someone will always employ a rapist or killer if they think it might help them. Id rather get relegated than have one of those play for us.
From a practical persective, he's got a wife and family to support, so he simply has no option but to get himself sorted out sometime soon. if he doesn't, then he's going to implode and take others with him. On a side note - I'm currently re-reading Stan Bowles' autobiography, and although we're talking booze, birds and gambling rather than anything majorly criminal or violent, there are a few parallels in the way that Stan's clear and obvious on-pitch talent was being diluted by his non-football reputation and activities - he had a marriage break up and severe stress and strain on family and friends due to his inability or unwillingness to leave his single life and addictions alone. I'm not likening the two players (before I get flamed), it's just interesting to see what can happen when there's a lack of discipline and control and it affects how you behave and are perceived. I sincerely hope Joey Barton gets himself sorted out. For his sake and for those that love him. I also hope that until he does so, he has nothing to do with Queens park rangers.
He could retire now and live his life in luxury, hes already earned many times the amount a normal would earn, his contract with us alone is worth £13m, hes probably got 20-30m in the bank right now.
They've just done the old 'Played their part' bit on JB on the offish, probably doesnt mean anything in terms of his staying or going though.
