Joelinton will know all too well that this is a collosal bit of bad judgement and I'd guess he'll be filled with remorse. It's not reported that he was involved in an accident, so hopefully it's a relatively minor driving with excess alcohol incident. There are few traffic cops out these days, so I wonder what happened. A minimum 12 months ban awaits. Not sure if the FA will also ban him from playing.
Back in the day, after midweek games, we used to wait in the lay-by near Team Valley for the opposing team bus to pass us. Then I'd catch them them up, pull alongside and my mates would stick their bare backsides out the windows and slap their arse cheeks at the players! Got pulled over by bike cop once and got a bollocking, but he was laughing. Stopped after that
Naughty boy! Can't complain if he gets dropped tbh - players will need to recognize that now if there are discipline issues there are people waiting to come into the team to take your spot and you can't afford to give Eddie a choice to make. Much like the rest, I've had a few runs with the law for the wrong reasons and you learn from your mistakes. The lads 26 and hopefully will have learnt from this going forwards.
It will be annoying but i think he has to be dropped for this game really, Rashford was late and got benched, an example has to be set. I'm annoyed that the team will be weakened though.
Meh just get him a chauffeur. He would be the first footballer to be caught DD and he won't be the last. Only fractured minor laws myself, and I'm too good to get caught.
His career is reviving, And now his football is thriving, But he's been done for drink driving, It's Joelinton.
Eddie Howe on Joelinton drink-drive charge: “It came very much as a shock. Joe was very upset & remorseful yesterday. He knows the seriousness of the situation, and so do we as a club. I think he understands his responsibilities, and we are now supporting him. “We will deal with the matter internally. From day 1 he’s been a very good professional & hugely passionate about his career & the club. I was very surprised about what happened. We will back him & support him, but also educate him about what happened. Everyone makes mistakes.”
I'm sort of leaning to fine him 1 or 2 weeks wages and just play him. **** it, we need him in the team.
Personally I'd drop him for a game as a point of principle, bring ASM back in to the team and put Joe back in for Longstaff in the near future. Shows how well the lads are doing that only serious breaches of policy for non footballing matters are just about the only way to get dropped at present.
