Sky reporting that he is out for at least 2 months with a Hamstring injury, they also say he is on a season long loan ? So doesnt look like he will be coming back in January. Gutted as i have always liked the way Joe plays.

It was on BBC News yesterday. I think City have the option to take him back in January - Slade has said as much I believe.

Bad news. Was rather pinning my hopes on him given the paltry goal return to date of Le Fondre & Macheda.
The trouble is Nin, strikers need the ball (normally in the penalty area) to score frequently. With our paltry possession stats we just don't do that well enough.
We were discussing Newport v. West Ham earlier. A long time ago and football was different then, I know, but Newport had some great strikers back then including Eddie Woods, Howard Goddard, Tommy Tynan, John Aldridge and Brian Clark at the end of his playing career. The one thing you could guarantee then was that they would get the ball in the box quickly and the strikers would make the most of it. That side was just building to win the old 4th Division, the Welsh Cup and for some great European nights. Should have gone up to Div. 2 in 1983 but got pipped by City and Pompey. The rumour was that Newport's directors didn't want to go up as the financial gamble would have been too great. That didn't work well did it?
To be honest, while I like Joe, he is a very willing workhorse who runs the channels well with pace and commits defenders and would add something to the squad, he is not the greatest goal scorer so I don't think would have greatly added to our tally.

Didn't they also have David Gwyther (ex jack) as well?
I recall going to Somerton in 1980 or thereabouts for a Welsh Cup game and was expecting a stroll in the park for the City but they were well beaten. Newport's European exploits were great to watch. Yes they should have gone up in 83 even if they were very lucky to beat us at easer time. The boxing day 3-2 win that season as a great local derby.

Worst fa cup defeat i can remember was against Weymouth back in the early 80's if i remember correctly thier striker scored with a header from about 20 yards !!
Correct Nin although strangely I don't remember much of him although he scored 29 goals in over 100 appearances in 3 years. Not a bad record for someone at the end of his career.
Another City banana skin around 1970 was drawing 1 - 1 at lowly York City then losing the replay 3 - 1 at home.
