'Gomez is very good - but he can be even better'

Jordan Henderson believes Joe Gomez's full potential remains to be realised.
The Liverpool defender has made an impeccable start to the season, playing in all four games as Jürgen Klopp's side maintained a 100 per cent start to the Premier League campaign.
An England recall was a natural consequence of the No.12's form and Gomez is now with the Three Lions ahead of fixtures against Spain and Switzerland.
And it is from the camp that Henderson - who signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool this week - declared that there is so much still to come from his club colleague.
"He's already very good but he can be even better," said the midfielder, who has been a teammate of Gomez since 2015.
"He's still very young. He's still improving, still learning and there's no better place to do that than at Liverpool with the players that he's got around him and the manager.
"I'm excited for him because I know how good he can be and he's got the right mentality as well. He's very mature for his age. His feet are firmly on the ground and he can be as good as he wants to be."
    Player Stats — Joseph Gomez
"Obviously for him it's devastating but for us as a team as well it is because he's a huge player, not only for England but Liverpool as well," said Henderson.

I pray it would not happen this time, Gareth Southgate is having a duty of care for all players, including Gomez.

Provided he stays fit I can see Gomez and VVD being our centre back pairing this season. Gomez was very highly rated at Charlton he made 53 appearances for their first team in one and a half seasons when he was 17/18. He has been unlucky with injury, but when fit he reminds me of Agger the way he reads the game. He also usually distributes the ball well.

Remember Carra started as a right back before making centre back his own.

I am just praying England do not injure him, or worse do their favourite trick of leaving a player on the pitch when he has a minor injury so that it becomes a major one. They usually do this in the more meaningless friendly games.

Although he's been able to play FB, Gomez has always seen CB as his preferred position.

Carra's preferred position was also centre back.

Carragher was played in the midfield, while Gomez was played as a right back before being played as CB. Managers mistake or players are not developed enough to play as CB?

Joe Gomez's message to fans after injury

Joe Gomez intends to come back stronger from the injury lay-off ahead of him after sustaining a fracture to the lower left leg this week.
The Liverpool defender was forced off midway through the first half against Burnley on Wednesday night, with subsequent assessments suggesting he is likely to be out of action for up to six weeks.
Gomez recorded a special message for Reds fans on Friday morning to express his gratitude for the support he has received in the past few days.
“Thank you to you all for your kind messages and well wishes,” he said.
“Obviously I’m gutted to have picked up the injury but thankfully it’s not too serious and one I can definitely come back stronger from soon.
“I’ll do my best to come back as quickly as possible and be back with you guys soon. Thank you.”
