Obviously living in Portugal, I did not see the Leicester match but listened on the radio and have seen the 18 minutes of highlights and the interview with Joe on City's I-Player.

All things considered this must be one of the best debuts by an Academy member for a long time. I was especially impressed with his post match interview - quiet, thoughtful, but with a strong determination to do well in the long term and not to be carried away with his debut. Especially his reply to question about nerves when told he would be playing, he said it is what I've prepared for during my ten years at City.

I forecast a future City captain so long as we treat him well. How about the youngest captain since Geoff Merrick? Best wishes for your future career Joe.
 
It was a solid debut. He showed that he has more to offer as I think he was a bit too static in the middle third and there was a bit of ball watching. There were a few times he passed the ball back to Macca but then didn't move in to space or run on but with further games he will learn and get better.

He looks like he has a bit of pace of him and looks left footed so in all it looks like he will be one for the future and the missing puzzle piece. I just hope he gets more games as I am STILL annoyed that Joe Edwards for some reason has been forgotten both by Millen and now DM as he started in the final game against Preston, was outstanding and got man of the match. Since then he has not played for us and we are now playing Carey at Right back who just doesn't have the legs anymore to play there so why not give Edwards a game.

To be fair Carey had a excellent game again on Tuesday,He also brings a bit of quality and experiance in these tough times.
 
i echo that about carey, a good professional and very experienced, but there has to be a time we don't have to rely on the old guards
