Dragon you are 100% entitled to what you think. I dont agree with you, but Its good that people have opposing views. I am at odds with most who think Tom Carroll is our saviour. But thats my opinion.

What I would say for Allen is he isnt there to win games he is there to do what he does, win the ball and give it, which he does very well. Considering he isnt doing very well 51 appearences over 2 seasons isnt bad for a young player.

So good on you for disagreing with what others think.

Joe has exceeded all expectations for his £15m price tag. If it is true that he is now valued at £20m then he must have done his job well since he left us.

Rodger's won't sell his love-child to United. I think he would be a big boost to them as he is exactly what they need- but we're not going to sell him. (to United of all people).

Wouldn't mind trading him in for someone more defensively minded in midfield... but other than that- no keep him.

Allen's increase in value has more to do with the madness that surrounds the cost of buying British imo.

It's just one opinion, trunds left foot - the only one by the looks of it! <laugh> But I directly compared Allen to Shelvey because Valley drew that comparison saying that was more appropriate than the Siggy one....I get that, so I did.

Shelvey has saved us more than once since he's been here and you can't say that about Alllen. Tidy player and yes I'd have him back here tomorrow but £20M? Come on. I'd put him on a par with Ki, no more. Not much between them imo. Good passers of the ball and maybe Allen edges it in tenacity but Ki edges it in shooting. As you say, just an opinion.

I was in the minority of happy Liverpool fans when we bought Allen, he's done well when fully fit for us and I'm happy with him overall. I don't think there's much to this transfer rumour and even if there was interest it would be a big fat not for sale (to Utd).

I suppose the best ones to answer this would be the Liverpool fans the ones who have watched him over the last 2 years and can see if he has improved.

I couldn't say improved at this point, he's struggled with injury and a change in the way we play but he always give 100% so I wont knock him. At this point he's a useful squad player and that's it, down to him to improve on that.

Interesting, so would it bother you if he is sold. You say not to Manure, but if he is only a squad player shouldnt worry you if he went to them.

Allen is good when used properly. The problem is, his first season with us Rodgers tried to make him into an anchor man. He's not cut out for that.

I like Allen, many Liverpool fans don't rate him... I do... however, I see him as an inferior version of Coutinho.

Works hard, tracks back, presses relentlessly, helps set up others, and gets into nuisance positions... problem is, Coutinho is better than him at all those things- so Allen should probably never start when Coutinho is fit. Neither of those players are great for 90 mins though. Allen is a good sub for Coutinho on the hour mark when he begins to run out of steam if a like-for-like sub is needed.

Being that Allen is just a lesser version of Coutinho means that he could be expendable, should we need to make room for someone else. I'd like to keep Allen, but would gladly sell him if it meant we could bring in a better defensive midfielder.

Naturally wouldn't want him to go to United any more than you would want your players going to Cardiff.

Or the fans I suspect. vG needs to make an impact sooner rather than later, even though realistically it'll take time...

...DiMaria's not worth £60M either IMO but MU are desperate and there to be tucked up.

Two wrongs don't make a right do they? Even if you allow for an improvement in Allen (something I'd dispute along with one Liverpool fan here) can anyone honestly say he's four times better and therefore worth four times what we paid for Ki? Really? Don't think so.

A player is only worth what a club is prepared to pay. to me no player is worth millions of pounds, It's obscene when countries some of these players are from are starving and even in this country when thousands have to rely on food banks.....That side of football has gone crazy and over the top. I want no part of that anymore....

Dai - we all know the sums involved are obscene, I echo your sentiment. Only this afternoon I had a charity calling to try and get me to donate monthly to alleviate some of the hunger and preventable illnesses for millions of kids in Africa. That's the world we live in unfortunately.
