That's fair enough <ok> Luckily we have Lucas to play along side Allen who is also very important to us

I know Silva was not in there but for good spells of that game our midfield of Gerrard, Shelvey, and Allen were bossing their midfield. Can't help but think last May how Spearing, Hendo, and Gerrard got taken apart by Chelsea's midfield trio.

Absolutely <ok> And that's still with Sahin and Lucas not in there <yikes> It's good that we're well covered enough to handle injuries to players like Lucas

Forward would be nice... I think we really need to invest in a centre back too.

Dagger and Skrtel both have picked up a number of little injuries here and there over the years... Coates probably has a strong future ahead of him but I wouldn't want to rely on a Coates/Carragher pairing should Skrtel and Dagger have the same week out.

Really with either of them out it is a blow although young Seb didn't play too poorly... his decision making needs to improve.

Johnson did OK at LB this weekend but he seems to be more involved when he plays at the right (Kelly is giving him a real run there).

Downing coming on as a LB against Hearts signifies how much we could really do w a new LB too.

Yes, we really could do with a striker but I'm concerned that with the wrong injuries our back line could become very weak.

At least with Allen and Sahin midfield looks well padded.

i said a list of 6 six players and got shot to peieces for daring to suggest an LB and a CB would be on that list of 6.

actually i'd said we should be getting shut of kuyt and maxi and got savaged as i said they were old and we needed to go the work now.

I wanted a striekr no 1, a winger no 2, a CM to replace adam, a Cb, a LB and maybe another striker as top sides should have 4.

we got, borini, a striker, assaidi, a winger, allen a CM and also Sahin a CM. to to me if we brought in two more players it'd have to be that striker option and a LB.

    .............................................

lets be frank we all hate man utd.... but you have got to admit they are set up for a long time to come... keepers, back 4 all have young options, mdifield, wingers and up top.. it seems to me ferguson has a full set up.

My worry is we are making do at left back and while thats proably good for kelly its not actually good for the team. Robinson needs a loan and experience badly. I think kelly can cover CB and so can wisdom if we are serious about him.

I do think striker is a big issue now though....

You're our whipping boy, don't act like you don't like it! IT's why you keep coming back, we treat you as badly as your missus does.

I'm not trying to suggest we don't need a striker... only saying it is far from our only area of immediate need.

We've got the making of a good team but to me seem more vulnerable to holes from injuries than at any time in recent years.

Barring more signings I feel our seasons success rides a lot on key players staying fit... more so than usual.

Rodders shares Kenny's CM fetish so we're really well placed for midfield injuries.

    i more agree with baz....

I think rodgers dones't want carroll so he's not an option even if we want him as fans. borini is not in the games and has missed a few so he needs to get involved and to me suarez needs to be pushed wide and let wander to create as he misses too much.... We don't have a first team no 9 right now IMO....

utd have 3 of those now plus the useless pea brain dec wannabe... city have 2 lumps and aguero... arsenal have none, suprs have one and newkie have 2... for all our options i really think we don't have someoen to rely on despite the moeny spent. rodger and carroll is a mystery s to why before he even took over rodgers wanted him gone.

I agree about a new defender but I'm not so sure about a centre back. If we had another left back we could stop having to move Johnson across and possibly give Kelly a run at centre back if required. I guess its hard to know exactly how he'd play there but could be worth a go. He's certainl got a good understanding of the game and the build for a centre back.

    Just a thought...

Man United defenders and midfielders young. Yeah 34 year old Rio Ferdinand is just a kid, as are 30 somethings Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra. As for their midfield Giggs and Scholes at 37 and 38 are young too. Jones is useless and Smalling is good, but nowhere near the finished article.

True about Kelly... he seems to be an all-round great defender. Seems to have JCs intelligence but on younger more able legs.

Wasn't he used primarily as a CB for the u18s?

Trying to recall Kelly in the air though... can't seem to recall seeing him in too many aerial challenges... is he good enough in the air winning headers for CB?

From a Swansea City Season Ticket Holder, Joe is a top talent and extremely likeable young man. Modest and polite.

We would have loved to have kept him but fully understand his reasons for leaving. Well played yesterday, think he will be a star for you.

    As will the Manager.
