I don't mind allen he seems a decent young player.

we'd have a lot of decent young midfielders at that point then... a good or bad thing? who knows. Allen, shelvey, henderson, old man lucas <laugh> sterling.... I don;t think rodgers will break his word on pinching swansea players though....

aren't all players at small clubs the poor man's something... wasn't shevely just that? maybe he's not a top player yet but who knows.

Allen is a decent young player form one season in the prem.. is he better than spearing? he could be or not.. spearing is what i'd call a very average prem player like guthrie for example.

Its got nothing to do with who he plays for in fairness mate I just think he is exactly what you said. A good player but average in Prem terms. No real problem if we signed him but he wouldn't bring anything more to our midfield of the future than Spearing, Shelvey or even Suso will.

Allen would bring an instant understanding on what Rodgers wants, he's a link man and will just keep passing it. I 'd be really happy if we got him.

fair enough... i think a top midfielder is needed.

if we are going for a 4-3-3 as we kind of assume then we need to see where that get us.

the middle 3 are weak is lucas is unfit. gerrard, lucas, adam is where we are at. henderson, shelvey and spearing as cover. don't think suso or cole or even aquilani suit the middle 3 roles. thats my opinion

my thing is the 4-3-3 works best with little triangles of players, on the left it would be enrique, adam and cole/downing/maxi... I cannot see adam sitting in to let enrique provide width can you guys?

For me he wouldn't bring much we haven't already got (if anything). We need more options not more of the same.

I suppose what I'd like about us signing him is as I said the understanding and the fact that he never looses the ball.

    well for me we need:

    a) someone to take the ball off the back 4 or provide a clear easy pass for them... if agger wants to stride forward to add a body fine but i don't want lumping as we pass it aorund until someone is on top of us and we've no options.

    b) someone with discipline to sit in and cover especially for full backs in a 4-3-3.

    c) someone who says with play, where the ball is.. not someone who hares off 30 yards upfield hoping for a pass from someone else.

its not exactly easy to find a scholes, pirlo or alonso but they've all got extras above and beyond these three simple points... lucas learned how to do this... hamann did this too. i'd hope we can find someone to make into this type of player... you want more than lucas or hamann offer but i don't think a pirlo grows on trees somehow.... i hoped someoen like kenny would grab a hold of henderson and explain this to him as he could do the role but maybe rodgers will.

With doubts over whether Lucas will be fit for the start of the season, and us having extra games with EL, I think Rogers could be looking for some one to cover Lucas.

This - his stats for keeping possession were in the top 5 in Europe. Would be delighted if we sign him.

Allen would be a great signing. Arsenal and Spurs are probably in for him as well.

If he's a 'poor man's' anything he's a poor man's Iniesta. He offers something we don't have - terrific balance, two footed, keeps it simple, plays the right style.

On the final day he made our midfield - Spearing, Shelvey wasn't it, look stupid.

    ......Borini.............................Gerrrard.....................Bellamy...
    ....................................Suarez.................................................

    Deep play maker.

Tbh these is an easy story for the papers to create. Like with Rafa we were linked with Aimar.

With targets like this who are coming from recently promoted teams I think, apart from obviously super talented options, they should be judged after 2 or 3 seasons in the PL before becoming big signings.

Look at Adam for example. He looked really good for Blackpool, but that was only for 1 season in the PL. The second season blues in always a lingering possibility that we have seen far to often.

I have to admit though, Allen seems to have a lot more quality about him than Adam. Younger too.
