Allen played a lot of last season as a deep lying midfielder, which is what we need - a partner for Lucas/DM. Lucas cleans up and wins possession, Allen releases the ball/start attacks.

I can definately see these two complimenting one another.

Can someone clear this up...i thought Rodgers was prevented from approaching his old club for players? In the case of this Allan, i was under the impression if another club bid for him, liverpool would be allowed to join the bidding war.Who is the other club in this instance?

He has a fifteen million pound release clause in his contract.

He can also leave if he hands in a transfer request, or if another club make a bid which is accepted, in which case we may bid the same amount.

He (Rodgers) will also be communicating with HJ and if they (Swansea) decide the cash is too good to turn down, then a deal may be struck.

I think it was a 'Gentlemans Agreement'. Plus I heard that any of the Big 4 (LFC, Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal) and possibly Man City now have to bid at least £15m which would activate a clause. Which is a bit funny seeing as Spurs could offer anything they want (under £15m) ...

So what is the fee then? 15 mil now?

Just feel like its overpriced and ironic considering Werners comments the other day.

LFC have found their niche- the team that overpays for one season wonders! He's worth £8m max atm, after another good season then I could understand £10-15m.

Agree don't we already have Hendo and Shelvey to work on that role?

it'll be interesting to watch... allen has one thing going for him and that's a lot of games under his belt... after that i can't be sure he's any better in terms of talent over what we have.

Yes he is, as stated earlier, Gerrard will get injured and it will take Lucas a while to find his feet after a serious injury. Are you really happy with a midfield of Shelvey Henderson and Adam?

Allen is a good player and i can see him slotting into your team nicely. Are you paying over the odds? Probably but if he's a good player who will fit in and you can afford it then i guess why not. Is he champions league quality? Much more important question and its hard to say, he's better than your current underbelly but i'm not convinced he's 'good enough' to take you where you want to go.

Also, for the person who was saying how much players like Alonso ( 1 world cup, 2 Euro championships, Champions League, La Liga), Hazard (first player to win young player of the year consecutively and then the first player to win player of the year consecutively (and youngest player to ever win it) whilst also winning the league) and Ronaldo cost; well where do you start in a response to that kind of comment?

There's a chance Allen will outshine the likes of Hazard next year, but the odds are against it. £15m seems like the very top end to pay for him, even £10-£12 would seem more 'market rate' than 'bargain'.

but I wouldn't really be thrilled if you added Allen in there as well. I would rather we kept Aqua ( highly doubtful I know) and had the three of Lucas, Aqua, and Gerrard- then you have the depth of Adam ( if still around), spearing, shelvey, hendo, suso ( AM), Cole ( probably staying AM).

I just feel if we are buying a CM it needs to be a creative one, and if we get Allen it needs to be around that 7-8 mil.

You ain't gunna get Allen for 7-8M there is a reason for that, he is young and good, which is the reason we want him. The judge is Rodgers not Comolli so relax, it will work out.

So what if we have to pay a few million premium for taking a teams best player. We can afford it, I just bought a new LFC TV subscription and will get a new shirt soon<ok>
