A perfect game to show both the shortcomings of Moyes AND the shortcomings of the squad. We had more shots on goal in that game than any previous premier league game this season which shows how much more capable we are than we actually were under Moyes. Nevertheless it still highlights some weaknesses in key areas of the the squad, particularly LB and CM areas - and possibly a RW if Nani isn't going to be played. BUT, it shows we don't need a overhaul of the squad at all. It really won't take much to be competing at the top again and that's been evident all season tbh.
Going down mate, we are bloody terrible. I think our goals against clearly demonstrates this, not to mention our goals scored and to think you guys have had a bad season huh? Some of you don't appreciate what you have got
Unusual comment. We beat you fairly convincingly in the league cup (same score iirc) and didn't do too badly at your ground in the league either.
I think it's easy to get carried away by a win against Norwich, a side who had lost there last 5. Yes we played well once we got the first goal, but before that we had no answer to open up there defence, for the first 40 mins we were very poor, and it was only a cock up from the Norwich defence that helped us open the scoring. It was always going to be a lot easier to score a few once Norwich had gone behind, as they where always going to have to come out and play, and take a few risks
Yeh don't get me wrong I'm not going to say we're back to our best after just one game, but wasn't that exactly what we were doing under Fergie last season? Not always playing well but attacking and winning, beating teams we should be beating. My main point is that the signs are there that there is enough quality in the team, we just need a few additions to really make us solid - both creatively and defensively. BTW Rooney MOTM
Yup, we were bloody dreadful in both away games, it is impossible to argue with that, but that team has the ability (at home) to perform much better, as indeed we did in December when you got away with a 1-0 win. Expectations of an actual result were not especially high, but off the back of two decent 'workmanlike' performances, far more was expected today. Even a 4-0 defeat, with a decent showing would have been acceptable, but the problem is that Norwich lay down and roll over once the first goal goes in, in away games. The belief and confidence has gone, and in no danger of coming back in the next two weeks I fear.
Ye I suppose so 3 or 4 quality players will be enough. I don't want Giggs getting the job though, it's to much of a risk to start next season with Giggs in charge, no matter what happens in these 4 games against sides below us in the table. We can't realise 2 months in to next season that Giggsy hasn't got a clue, and go cap in hand to Van a Gaal as he won't be available then
No matter where we are respectively in the league the ******ed scousers will always have an inferiority complex. We have won so many premiership titles and then have yet to win their first one . And it is looking like a struggle even after so many years of trying and the referees helping them this season.
