it's a different world now. all manner of things just weren't talked about. plus many victims of such abuse really don't want to see their abuser again or face it all being dragged up and having to go over it all again. they feel demeaned by owning up to being victims.

"Equally I do despair when I read that Cary Glitter has had allegations made against him - why not when he was in the spotlight and the whole world had him bang to rights? Another set of investigations against him and more public funds down the swanney!"

I don't understand why you need to read what you wish into what someone has written. John (Aberdeen) touched on it, when he wonders why it has taken so long to come out. Saviles accusers may have some reason, the BBC and other organisations suffered institutional blindness, so it appears, by an over-whelming burden of evidence that Savile got-away with it. Glitter was brought to book in no uncertain manner and any victims had every opportunity to come forward, without the so-called problems that the Savile victims faced. So my question is why they failed to do so, when a full scale investigation and trial took place. Where the hell have I said that Glitter (or anyone) should not be investigated and punished, if guilty? I do think that not to have dealt with them in the initial enquiry is an opportunity lost and cots the hard-stretched public purse yet gain. Try reading what folk write and stop adding your own twist to it.

Maybe so, but what's suddenly changed? It was an ex-policeman who outed him for a TV program and that has opened the floodgates. there are certainly those who do not seem at all phased by becoming public.

I think the major thing that concerns many is the way in which the media seem to have the god-given right to treat folk as guilty until proven innocent. It is a technique that creates it's own victims, by implication and association.

Quote " Glitter was brought to book in no uncertain manner." - Glitter was punished for images on his computer and his vile exploits in Asia, not for incidents involving the Saville case.

Quote "any victims had every opportunity to come forward, without the so-called problems that the Savile victims faced. So my question is why they failed to do so, when a full scale investigation and trial took place" - Unless you have direct experience of abuse you can't rationalise why victims don't come forward. Only they know the pressures involved and they can't be blamed for coming forward later than you would have preferred.

Quote "Where the hell have I said that Glitter (or anyone) should not be investigated and punished, if guilty?" .... Quote "Another set of investigations against him and more public funds down the swanney!" - Your reaction to an investigation seems pretty clear.

Quote "Try reading what folk write and stop adding your own twist to it." - I think you're the one who's twisting, I'm just quoting what you said.

nothing has suddenly changed other than savile dying and itv airing a programme about him. there has been a gradual change in society and what society talks about and isn't embarrassed to talk about.

the press has always been full of hypocritical gutter dwellers, but that doesn't mean they always get it wrong.

You have quoted a fair bit; now relate your comments to the quotes more accurately.

You seem incapable of reading what folk write and taking from it the essence of what they are saying; just as you did with the posts of the other guy.

Gadd has been arrested for his involvement in the *****phile case against Saville. He has never stood trial for these charges previously, therefore an investigation against him (including costs) and the normal media interest in the case is completely justified.

None of Gadd's victims came forward when he was previously on trial because that was for different charges.
You avoid the word "blame" when you refer to these victims but you constantly criticise them for not coming forward. Again I ask you what experience / knowledge do you have about these people's emotional states that allows you to judge how and when they should have come forward?
You said "Bollocks every case is the same but different." - A bollocks statement if there ever was one.

You also make far more points about the cost of these investigations than you do about the sick and perverted nature of the crimes being investigated, but no doubt you will deny you said that too like every other point I quoted you on.

I only made one point about cost, which has been repeated by you and I - again you decide to misrepresent what was written - you're good at that. I never expected you to understand the Bollocks thing - you have too much difficulty with plain text.

You decided to pick up posters for saying something they did not say - it seems to be your forte, so enjoy yourself, even though it's a pretty dumb thing to do.

Police have arrested a man in connection of been involved in a *****phile ring in the 1970s. Police aren't releasing any details, other than they think they've caught the leader of the gang.

To be fair to Craig I did defend Saville initially but backed down as soon as it became pretty clear he was almost certainly implicated as a *****, maybe he didn't keep up to date on the thread as I've been posting on it from the start three or four weeks ago. The media are certainly milking this story now plus they have the Gary Glitter angle too it seems and maybe a few other aging celebs. Expose the pervs, all well and good but when it's done there is no need to keep going after every little tillilating angle they can find. It's coming to something when world events and actual things which effect all of us on a daily basis are being over-looked because of the media frenzy surrounding this- **** sells thats for sure.

I actually heard, at the time of her murder, that is was Cliff Richard behind it as she'd uncovered him as the head on a peado ring. I laughed my tits off at the time, not so sure it's noncesense now.
