Sad to hear of the passing of Jimmy McInch. Jim was a prolific scorer in the City youth team that reached the FA Youth Cup Final in 1971. He didn’t quite make the grade in the first team however, and made just a handful of appearances before moving on in 1975. Although a Glasgow lad, he lived in Cardiff for most of his life. RIP.

He lived in Lincoln Street as a city youngster. Same house as Colin Baker and Alan Harrington in lodgings! Thought he was a half back, don’t remember lots of goal...John Parsons yes! Fiery ginger, loved a tackle and a pint!
RIP from Masky! :emoticon-0103-cool:

Born in Glasgow, McInch began his career as a youth player with Cardiff City where he formed a partnership with future Wales international Derek Showers. He was also part of the side that reached the 1971 FA Youth Cupfinal before losing 2-0 on aggregate to Arsenal. McInch was handed his professional debut in the 1972–73 season but struggled to build on his early promise and made just fifteen first-team appearances, with his only goal coming in the League Cup, before being released in 1975.

He instead joined Bath City, scoring his first goal in a 2-0 win over Wimbledon on 22 October 1975, spending two years with the club, including playing in the final of the 1977 Anglo-Italian Cup against Lecco.[1

Very sad. RIP.

Saw the home leg of that Youth Cup Final v Arsenal. I think some 12,000 plus attended that.

Even then we struggled to bring through young, home grown players. Some exceptions like Showers and Dwyer.

Danny Showers - as useless as Madine but at least he tried.

Always sad to hear a bluebird pass on
