Midfielder Jimmy Bullard was a surprise absentee from the 16-man squad, with Andy Drury – recently back from a loan spell at League Two side Crawley – a surprise starter. “Jimmy rang this morning about ten o’clock and said he’d been up all night ill,” said Jewell. “There’s obviously been a bit of flu going around so I’ll give him a ring tomorrow to see how he is. You do that Paul, he should have shaken off the hangover by then.
Yes I would, I haven't said I wouldn't. I'm just sensible enough to realise that a professional footballer is going to get paid more than me. Social protocol. You don't hate him, you hate your dead end job, as you've already said.
@Transfer_Talk I can reveal that both Cardiff and Birmingham have enquired and are contemplating loan bids for Ipswich's Jimmy Bullard #CCFC #BCFC #ITFC
Either: or: That's what time Jewell gets there on a matchday, and he didn't see the point in ringing when nobody was there? If it were one of our players you wouldn't expect him to ring Tiger Leisure to get one of the staff to pass on a message to Barmby would you.
Would explain why he has fallen so out of favour (not just his performance on the pitch but his behaviour and attitude off it).
No, I'd expect him to have his boss' telephone number. There is this incredible invention out called the mobile telephone that allows people to contact others in almost all places. I reckon it might catch on.
When Bullard was with us, out injured as per usual, the management got wind that he was on the piss in London. This was on a Sunday night. Steve Walsh rang him to tell him that unless he was at training on the dot Monday morning he was being hit with a fine of a weeks wages. This was confirmed as £45 k. Bullard didn't answer so Walshy left a message giving him the good news. I think Pearson and Walshy were expecting a call from Bullard saying he was sick and pre-empted Bullards antics. Walshy got twenty odd mis calls from Bullard after he had left his message but didn't answer any of Bullards calls. Bullard turned up for training on the Monday morning but I don't think he ever spoke to Steve Walsh again. Looks like Jewell hasn't been as switched on. You can chose to believe that account or not but that came straight from Steve Walsh himself. Out of respect for Walshy whilst he was here I kept that story under wraps.
I can easily believe that story of victimisation. I hope he wins his appeal, some people at the club and some who've left have a lot to answer for. Turns out they've cost the club millions, and for what?
