Fine line though. The tackle on Gomez fractures his leg... would you say it was a red card tackle then because it endangered the opponent? All tackles in theory could endanger them, same with any collision in the air. What id say is that he doesn’t look at Perez, that’s usually a good signal if it’s deliberate elbow or not. Now only he will know but from my view it looks like one where he’s got his arm up to protect himself more than anything. I do believe it’s a foul, as he clearly makes contact and outside the box you seem them given all the time (look at the bournemouth one v VVD on Saturday where we got a free kick). But I think a red would have been too much given it’s hrd to argue it’s a deliberate attempt to endanger him. Saying all that, if you guys weren’t so **** wouldn’t have been an issue
the worst part of that inccident was the fact the ref did not stop the game for an obvious head injury - WTF now the ref is a doctor he allowed Wolves to attack against 9 men and reluctantly went to see Perez after the ball went out, thus delaying the trainers to come on to attend to Perez
Didn’t see the Gomez incident so not really in a position to comment. Your points about the Perez incident might be pertinent except the joke of a referee didn’t give the penalty it would seem because it was the ball that hit Perez in the face. He apparently didn’t see the elbow that hit Perez in the face. I would love someone to explain that one to me. How do you become a PL referee with the eyesight of Mr Magoo? On point, even though I think it was deliberate (see my logic above) it doesn’t need to be to merit a red card. On the issue of deliberate or not watch how little his right arm moves in contrast to his left arm. If it was a genuine use of arms to jump then the arm movement would have been more equal IMO and experience. The action used to be a well practiced movement by centre half’s in the “good old days” for sorting out a troublesome centre forward. Unfortunately the authorities deemed that it wasn’t an acceptable tactic to deal with those pesky centre forwards resulting in the closure of many A and E’s on Saturday nights thereby causing a great deal of unemployment but que sera sera. The person entrusted to enforce this edict from above was the football match referee causing a lot of hatred to be directed towards him, or now her as well, by the families of unemployed medics thrown into the work house as a consequence of their now reduced state of poverty. Who was to know that the grandson of one such medic would turn up at St James’ Park on Sunday the 9th December 2018 disguised as a football referee and in an embittered futile attempt to turn back the pages of history foolishly allow the “centre half elbow” tactic to live just one last time?
Penfold I don't think he meant to elbow him tbh We need to dig deep down and accept the reason we lost was due to yedlin . You have to go all the way upstream to the source of the problem.... we're ****e
We shouldn't even have to be looking to the referee for decisions. It's how far we've fallen that we would have been over the moon with a point AT HOME against Wolves. We now go to Huddersfield hoping we are able to at least compete. The Fat man has brought all this on. #ashleyout
Not sure how people can blame Yedlin. This is Rafas fault. With Fernandez going off, Clark should have gone central and if we are brining on Manquillo he then slots in at LB. Not rocket science is it Rafa?
Did mention this is my earlier post, out of all the decisions of the day - to cancel the protest, the ref's performance, the subs etc - THIS was the craziest decision of the day. 3 options - move Manquillo to RCB as he's better in the air, bring on Dummett at LCB and shift Clark and Lacselles over or finally switch to 4 at the back. How anyone thinks moving Yedlin to CB was a justifiable choice is beyond me.
This is the main point for me - thought the game was automatically stopped for a potential head injury
By Dean's own admission " I thought you got hit in the face with the ball " it should of been stopped There and then Perez landed on his back and never got up There was no due care afforded to Perez Quite shocking that a ref could act like this
Not sure why Yedlin gets all the ****. He was stupid. No way a red though as Lascelles is close enough on the cover to stop it being an obvious goal scoring chance. Also ref has missed an obvious Spanish archer on Perez which is a red and changes the game. So the ref is a ****. Also why is there no mention of Kenedy? What a **** he is. He had just come on but made no attempt to get back and mark the goalscorer.
