that HMRC very rarely win any of their cases against football clubs because they dont do any research or proper investigation before the go accusing people of criminal wrong doings. That they let certain clubs build up massive tax debts but not others. They very briefly touched on EBTs. Gold had never used them but he said they were common among bigger clubs and perfectly legal. I wish they had more on the rangers case. He thought it was farcical that Rangers were facing a £70 million tax bill. Why not bill rangers when the bill was 5 million he said. He made HMRC out as idiots really. Complaining about things that dont break the rules. he said change the rules then.
So no facts then? why does everybody feel the need to point out that a scheme introduced by Hector is legal? Of course it is legal. I could tell you the exact reason that Hector didn't give the Huns a bill........but you need something to cling to.
can you tell me how many cases they have lodged against football clubs and how many they have won / lost? Arsenal paid their players via the EBT process, when they eventually got the bill from hmrc they paid straight away. if hmrc rarely win why would arsenal pay up straight away?
ok so your post should have read, David gold states hmrc rarely win cases against football clubs. I am actually trying to rack my brain cell to think of a case that hmrc fought and won.
