This is a dangerous precedent we'd live to regret when we want to send jihadis back to their original countries and can't, because they've been made stateless. Shamima Begum's baby has died according to "unconfirmed reports", the lawyer for the British wife of an Isis fighter has revealed.

The 19-year-old has been stuck in a Syrian displacement camp after the UK government chose to strip her of her citizenship.

Her lawyer, Mohammed Akunjee, said he had received "strong" indications her son had died.

"We have strong but as yet unconfirmed reports that Shamima Begums son has died," he posted on Twitter. "He was a British Citizen."
