Sunderland target Ji Dong-Won is free to leave Korean outfit Chunnam Dragons after club officials revealed they would allow the player to move on. Ilgan Sports reported last week that the 20-year-old forward, who scored in Korea's 2-1 win over Ghana on Tuesday, was set to be offered a three-deal by the Black Cats. The report also suggested that Sunderland and Chunnam had not agreed on a transfer fee for the youngster, who scored four goals at the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, and that Chunnam's valuation of the player could prove to be a stumbling block. However, a club official told Yonhap News that Ji is set to leave for the English Premier League side in early July. "The CEO will agree to Ji's move. The transfer fee will be US$1 million - 1.3m," said the official. "It's big loss for us to grow a youth player and lose him after one season playing for the first team. He should sign with Chunnam again when he comes back to Korea.” The youngster impressed in the match against Ghana, drawing praise from Korea boss Cho Kwang-Rae, who suggested Ji could succeed in Europe. “He is tall, but also fast and smart. I think he can play really well in Europe if he can add some more power,” said Cho to reporters after the game. If the deal goes through, Ji's final game for Chunnam would be on June 26 against Gangwon, before competing in Olympic qualifiers with Korea and then flying to England.
i would be doing won big celebration if he came, not as fussy as all these so called prima donnas who think they are better than what they are **** off brown ngog and o'shea
The Korean team in the world cup was full of hard workers. All looked lively and willing to work for the team. This is the first I've heard about him but from what little details ido know about him he could be a very shrewd signing.
Seriously tho, I hope we are only in for him to have a slice of the far east market. At 6' tall he is bound to score headers in those leagues. Wish I could have had a video made of my best moves and goals, scrubbing out the rest. I was CRAP! He is made to look good. No doubt we will pay £5m for him. Buying in Hallods. x
