Fortunately I'm on a family holiday in Cornwall at the moment, otherwise I would have been there! But I'm sure you're right!
When Tommy Smith tried to clear that ball off the line, the looked like he'd been electrocuted! He was flipping about all over the place like a carp on a riverbank! He clearly lost confidence after that howler and was spraying the ball as soon as it got near him. The sensible thing to do would have been to take him off and let him lick his wounds in private (oo-er), but no, he stayed on and was a target for the Wolves forwards for the rest of the game. One thing that really troubled me though was the Wolves fans' singing. I mean, how can you rhyme "We love you Wanderers we DO" with "Wanderers we love YOW" (affects comedy Black Country accent)?
I just trawled through a **** load of threads on TWTD and couldn't find a single person who said PJ should stay. More than I expected were saying that Marcus is the problem or that until we get a decent CEO we will go nowhere. I have to agree, we've gone nowhere since his arrival but a good football man at the helm to guide us and teach Mr Evans a thing or two about running a club would do us no harm at all. Goodbye Clegg, your work here is done, and I'm sure there's room in your jag for Paul and Chris so why don't you take them with you when you leave.
Thanks for keeping us out of the bottom 3 chums.....gonna be a long season for both teams based on current form! A funny league this year - if you'd won last night you'd have been in agouit 14th place!
Didnt make it last night. My wife had to work so stayed at home with the babe instead. Before last night there were positives (yes start the ridicule now) in that the performances were there but the results were not. Last nights commentary made it sound like an abysmal performance although having said that we should (yet again this season) have been 2 or 3 nil up before we conceded the first. The radio suggested Smith was highly unlucky to have conceded the first goal and as with Saturday the second was down to a misplaced pass in midfield. In general this season we have played well without getting the results and it felt like we just needed to turn a corner but it seems like confidence has now dropped off and we are going through the motions, if last nights commentary was to be believed. Saturday is now must win. I will be there so will give my honest view based on what I see then but by the sounds of it a repeat of last night will see Jewell in a very difficult position. I think he is feeling the pressue and for the first time he seemed very snappy in his pre match interview. The next 48 hours in training are crucial to lift morale and get the team prepared to fight for a victory on Saturday.
Count me in jonny, last season PJ said that we wouldnt be going down the loanee route again, so last night for the majority of the game 3 out of 4 midfielders were loanees! The defence was as awful as ever, the strikers were as inept as ever,JET was the same as ever, Martin lived up to his "nearly man" tag, he nearly does this and nearly did that but produces absolutely nothing. The bright spots? Luongo looked as though hes going to be a very good player and Taylor before he went off looked sharp. If you dont spend the money to buy good players then you end up with players nobody else wants, the bottom of the barrel. There hasnt been an improvement in fact weve gone backwards since Jewells been here,( another man nobody else wanted ) so I hope Evans is aware of where his appointment and transfer policy is taking us, almost to the bottom of the league and crowds dwindling which further reduces income. I really would prefer tobe posting how pleased I am
How long are you going to put up with him? He is taking you even more backwards then Keane did Comical own goal though
I think Jewel is fairly good in the transfer market, we have a good squad (minus a CB) but he simply cannot get the best out of the players! When we are at our best we can beat anyone in the league, but the team has confidence issues. I think the only way forward is to get PJ OUT. New manager -> players will get a 'fresh' start and start playing to prove themselves -> we will actually start winning games (hurrah!) -> builds teams confidence -> keep winning!
I'm not saying things are bad........................................ But i'd welcome Gary Megson with a huge hug!
jeez, i didn't realise things had got that bad! at least clegg will be busy this morning. corner flags don't buy themselves you know...
In general a dismal perfomance, which lacked pace, cohesion, and skill, there was also a lack of balance in the team. We can take some hope that we actually created several chances, but if you can not hit the target from close range, then this hope soon turns to despair. Our defence has been an ongoing problem for years now, and it is still not resolved. Tractor bboy if the radio thinks Smith was unlucky with the own goal, then either they were not looking at the vital moment, they were joking, or they were being nice to him. This has to be one of the worst, and comical own goals ever in pro football, sorry this guy is the worst ever central defender I have ever seen at Ipswich. However the sad thing is, he is only a part of all the problems.
At least Cleggy has got something postive to put in the programme notes, how nice our new corner flags are!
