PJ is in a much better position to decide which is the best formation to play with the players at his disposal, i'm a bit surprised that some are sharpening the knives already PJ needs to watch his back, not really the Ipswich way.

Weighty We all want the best for our football club but when you see the same old same old week in and week out it gets a bit depressing. I have watched all the pre season friendlies and the team doesn't seem to be any further forward. We can all see the tactics are wrong when we play at home and that no progress has been made in rectifying these mistakes. I have faith that PJ will sort this out but for christs sake he's not helping himself at the moment. We are supposedly sitting on a big war chest of cash yet nothing is happening.

I know main area of concern is 2 centre backs, closely followed by a right back, however I do like Carlos as a player but he is not the answer. A quality striker to partner Chopra is needed.

But I feel that even with all of the above we are not going to get anywhere without a top centre mid. Players such as Andrews and Bowyer are solid signings, but alongside the likes of Leadbitter and Kennedy we have too many 'ok' players without the creativity Bullard provided. I am not going to harp on about Bullard because I feel he would only be a short term solution (one that looks unlikely to happen). I've said it before but we need players like King and Gallacher from Leicester, Howson/Snodgrass from Leeds, quality on the ball with the ability to drive forward and make things happen. At the moment our midfield still appears to be set up as if we are trying to see the 90minutes out with Arsenal for a 0-0.

I certainly wouldn't expect Jewell to pay over the odds, from what he said today it sounds like we made a considerable offer for Jay Rodriguez. So if the player is right I think we could yet see a big money signing before the 31st.
