The defence with Sonko and Delaney was at its most useless, as was that other waste of time and space called Murphy, Chopra ran miles as usual but also as usual hardly ever got the ball, and when a simple pass from Martin would have given Chopra a tap in he decided to try and beat the keeper himself with the obvious result. In fact it became obvious throughout the match that Martin was not going to pass to Chopra under any circumstances so chances came and went throughout the match, Martin was lucky to stay on the pitch after he poleaxed a Donny defender about 5 minutes after the ball had gone. It was good that the players came to us fans at the end and gave away their shirts and boots ETC but PJ was nowhere to be seen, I hope the opportunity is taken to clear out the dross this summer and some quality defenders brought in along with a striker. On the subject of dross I saw Clegg driving round Donny railway station car park in his 61 reg XKR Jaguar, it would appear hes doing quite well for himself on our season ticket money!
Great post FM You must have driven 100s of miles supporting Town this season! Hats off to you! I used to make that sort of committment but over the last couple of years I have begun to lose interest. Next season for the first time since 1987 I wont be a season ticket holder either! I take your point about Clegg the swanky cock!
Thanks jwm I dont know how many fans we had there but we certainly made ourselves heard, the Keepmoats a good place to go, nice stadium, friendly staff and fans, and I hope they get back to the Championship ASAP. We drove to the railway station to collect a couple of Town fans from York, but I havent a clue why Clegg was there he couldnt have got anyone else in his car if he wanted to, perhaps he just wanted Town fans who went by train to see his car. I dont think about the miles quite honestly its just great to be amongst Towns travelling fans wherever that may be.
Jewell said: “If he wants to move on, he can. I know Nathan from Wigan and if he looks at himself, he hasn’t done it since he left Wigan......... So why sign him then? Ridiculous, yet some still defend him. Each day brings a new reason why this man has poor judgement and should be sacked for wasting our money. Jamie Peters has been ignored, and this is no surprise. A real shame, as he always gave 100%
" Jamie Peters has been ignored, and this is no surprise. A real shame, as he always gave 100% " As did Matthew Richards / as did Darren O'dea / as did Dean McDonald what exactly is your point ? I expect every player to always give 100% as standard. I know some players ( JET ) to name one don't, most do. Also regarding Peters - He's been under Royle / Magilton / Keane and Jewell - The general link = he's hardly played. He was atrocious whilst on loan at Bournemouth and couldn't even force his way into the lineup by the end ! Lets be honest he's simply not good enough. Nice guy/ hasn't worked/ lets please move on. It's best for both Peters and Ipswich to go separate ways - Lets hope he ends up finding a permanent home and playing good football. As for Ellington - gamble that frankly hasn't paid off. Fair play to Jewell for more or less admitting that - however NOT fair play for offering him a two year deal. I don't know just who negotiates with players, but that simply is bad business. How on earth are we going to get rid of Ellington sensibly !? I agree with " Each day brings a new reason why this man has poor judgement " this however. Sometimes Jewell's judgement has been rather poor. What I will say, is he's held his hands up and admitted he got last summer wrong. Lets see what happens this time. He doesn't have any excuses for next season, so if we're doing terribly then I will very much be in the Jewell out camp. For now, I'll reserve judgement until 12 games into next season.
At least the summer break should give PJ the chance to complete his Open University course, he should gain his degree in stating the bloody obvious!
The keepmoat is one of my favourites and this year was the first time in 4 years I didn't make the trip, why the sacked O'Driscoll is one of football's biggest mysteries, I would happily take him at Ipswich if/when Jewell leaves. I must say as well that this season I decided to make more effort to go to PR rather than travel round doing away days but quite honestly nothing beats a good away day. For starters for the ticket prices at PR I could go to 3 or 4 away matches, also given everyone (or so it seems) in the away end sings their heart out for the town, always outnumbered but rarely outsung. I can't imagine I'll be visiting PR again for a while and for now I'm going back to being a wandering town fan
