I think Jewell has a very good case for suing this Leighton fella, who is head of the referees association, for libelous slurs! I heard the interview he did on BBC this morning and to accuse someone of blatant sexism is just way OTT. Perhaps this fella should be more concerned about the poor standard of officiating we get every week from his members, that would be a start!
The whole ****ing thing stinks!! Personally i think there is no place in football for women (other than womens football) I'm no Jewell lover as you know but he is being stitched up here and tbf even if he did say something sexist it was deserved!!
Glen Johnson's 2 footed lunge that didn't result in any card should have been debated more in the papers!
The only line she should be running is the washing line ..... This country is PC mad , ya not even supposed to wolf whistle at a bird nowadays.
I'd be interested to hear her thoughts on this. Has she made a complaint, or has Leighton just seen this as something to get his name known?
I'm one for speaking PC, the problem with this country is perhaps from time to time we go overboard with the whole PC thing. But its mainly leftwing press trying to stitch someone up, like today or the right wing press saying this country has gone PC mad which results in ridiculous press stories which wind people up, which results in the rubbishing of being PC, which is wrong. My view on this, is its a storm in a teacup it seems that Jewell is being called sexist for purely calling the women a women and as has been said earlier the press have as ever not put what was actually said in context and have not highlighted that it was someone from the press who said "every man in the ground could see that it was a penalty"!! What he said was certainly not a sexist comment, if anything those who have called it so, owe an apology to Jewell. I think it also hasn't helped the lineswomen herself with all this attention, I'm sure she just wants to get on with her job(perhaps wear glasses next time though)!! Spanish highlights exactly what sexism is perfectly, thanks, if Jewell had said something like this he should quite rightly be punished and my opinion of him would certainly go down a few notches.
