I think we'd all like to see JET rise to another level, but I am of the opinion that if he could do it he would have had his career at Arsenal and then Real or Barca. He would also have played for England and probably made a difference. So the chances that he will make the step up are quite remote
As has been said before, JET is a luxury player, and while he can have moments of brilliance, a more reliable and hardworking player is going to be of more value overall. The signing of Agard from Rotherham (following Wilbrahim from Palace) clearly marginalises JET even more, and it wouldn't surprise me if he is gone by the end of the transfer window. If one striker has to go, it would be better JET than Baldock. Mind you, I wouldn't mind seeing both JET and Sam stay, and JET either being used as an impact substitute (but with more than 30 seconds to play) or starting in the event of injuries to one or two of the other forwards.
It's hard to fathom out JET. The boy has talent galore but after a string of failures at clubs, wouldn't you think he would realize that he needs to change his approach? When he has the ball and runs (albeit more of a jog) at defenders, they just can't get the ball off of him. If he was more industrious, what a player he would be! Pull your finger out son and attain the greatness that your talents should be bringing you and our beloved club!
It is easy to work out. Allow him to drop off into space and play how he sees it he will score goals and create chances. Ask him to chase, be industrious and play further up the pitch, or in a restrained role wide as Mr Cotterill has wanted his obvious talent is diminished, he requires freedom and space to almost trundle about in. He would not have been any worse than the two up top Tuesday who had to be industrious chasing rubbish chucked aimlessly up the pitch ... The two up front were asked to put in that "shift" and were as anonymous as Emmanuel Thomas has been recently. He [Jet] may have been an improvement if given half an hour to do what he wants and where. I expected him to fade under Mr Cotterill and fade he has. Waste of a wage staying here now if asked to play like he has [Oxford], or for thirty seconds.
If we have to spend time wondering what's going on his head then it's probably better if he moves on to where his head believes he should be, and I'm not so sure it's Ashton Gate. Talented but complicated player who if he could get his act together might have had a more distinguished career, but he fit's a similar mould to so many young under achievers who failed to live up to their own dreams - shame.
He is not complicated. His best role is playing as a ten moving across and in and out of the last third from width and depth. This is where the previous Coach allowed him to play. Mr Cotterill as his Manager now wants very different. Versus Oxford there were people in the crowd who could have done better in the role he was instructed to carry out, but there was probably nobody in the entire ground who can do what he can v Carlisle, Rovers. Tamworth ... Tuesday said it all amongst mediocrity and a game needing invention he got thirty seconds. He is not what the Manager wants and isn't what the Manager does.
Came on in the right position today as sub and changed the game. Hopefully the penny drops with Cotterill. Best as a ten not a centre forward.
I am not a football guru, just a City fan and you are dead right, play the man at No 10, it's obvious...
Hope Jays orders were not to lead the line because he dropped off deep enough at one point to do a more than decent impression of Pirlo.
It was Jet's great pass that led to the winning goal. Think Cotterill's rubbish though - why didn't he bring on Wagstaff. Wagstaff, the great passer, dribbler, header, tackler. The man's a genius. Cotterill - you've got a lot to learn.
Good to see. Jay Emmanulle Thomas gets hammered for not being good at something anybody knows he is not good at. Too much emphasis on running around and achieving little, entire XI's should not be devoted to that.
The man can pass, shoot and score, but agree with some on here, needs to be played in the right position. We have had talented players here before that have been played in the wrong position e.g. Trundle, Pitman. Let's use the undoubted talents he has and put up with some of his failings and he will probably pass the 10 goals a season mark easily.
The man can pass, shoot and score, and dibble. Its is going to be interesting to see how Emmanuel Thomas will get used in the future. Saturday represented a mini u turn. Putting Freeman and Jet in consistently team will see no 3-5-2.
Not sure how that would work. Agard and Wilbraham up front and Jay Emmanuel Thomas and Freeman playing in behind?? No Agard? No Wilbraham?
Three Centre backs, one holding midfield player, two wing backs, Agard and Wilbraham up top with Jay Emmanuel Thomas and Freeman playing in behind. Whose the holding player?
