No Dave. They lost against Man City and who won't - but they have two clean sheets since so they look solid at the back and they will get goals. We have already seen some horror show defending from you this season.
And in any case I wasn't particularly talking about this season. Everyone knows it's what usually happens. Mancini said this before the start of the season. "When you start the season and you play against a team that comes from the Championship, it is really difficult," Mancini said. "Last year, with all the teams that came from the Championship, it was very hard to play against them in the first 10 games and it will be the same this year." So why hasn't it happened?
Hampy - All three promoted teams have played Wigan this season, and we clearly had the best result out of all three. You then quote Mancini going on about playing the promoted teams in the first 10 games will be really difficult. The league table shows us as playing 3 games and we have had 2 tough games against teams that are representing England in Europe this season, and an away game in which we got a decent point. If we are still sitting 14th after 10 games, we'll be delighted.
Carra you're saying that QPR haven't started well but they're 12th! You really think that Spurs, Arsenal, Fulham and West Brom will all be below you after ten games? Get real!
When did I say anybody hasn't started well? I'm saying we have had the best result out of all three promoted teams against Wigan. QPR have won a game, but lost 2-0 at Wigan when we got a point - is that clear enough? Spurs and Arsenal will be above us after 10 games, but maybe, just maybe we will be above 2 different teams.
Right so you are basing everything on a performance against one team, not even a result. I saw highlights of the Wigan game and it was kamikaze defending. If that's a good performance I fear for you. Out of those sides maybe West Brom will still be down there but I doubt it. This is what I keep trying to get across to you - you can talk about good results against teams that have qualified for Europe but nearly everyone in that league is strong. Sunderland will maybe struggle and they have the likes of O'Shea and Gyan in their side and I don't need to talk about the players in the Fulham and West Brom sides. Can't see that Norwich have a hope.
Hampy - as you say, the season doesn't end until May! I've seen enough already to be very confident of holding our own in this league, and, more to the point, so have some very knowledgeable others! I read only this morning some comments made by AvB, the Chelsea manager, about us belonging in the Premier League by the style of our play! I'd far rather believe him, rather than accept your very biased view.
To be honest if you think getting praise from a manager is a guarantee of getting points on the board then good luck to you I think you'll find what's happening is that everyone is patronising poor little Norwich - "oh look they can play a bit of football too." I must admit I found it very amusing to read the arse-licking that was going on with the Chelsea peeps. That's the difference in the mindset - when we are back up there we don't bow to anyone.
When and if you get back to the Premier League, it sounds like you're expecting to easily survive and possibly more. You're success 30 years ago has been forgotten by everyone except 1p5wich fans. Frankly you're nothing and are living in our shadow.
Living in your shadow? Your best shot was to invest and take a risk but instead you've set up to not take a hit if you are relegated back and that means Lambert will be on his bike come May.
Ipswich have a good chance of promotion, just move the Booby Robson statue into the dug out and wire it up to a drive in McDonalds style speaker system. Jewell could sit in the dressing room with a microphone and bark at your players in his best Geordie accent .....Or alternatively put it in goal, it wouldn t do any worse
This coming from a Norwich lot who haven't won a single game yet! Face it the wheels have come off. You rode on the crest of a wave last season with League One players with a lot of heart but now you're being found out As for Town, lots of work still to be done but I think I speak for all of us when I say we are pretty happy with the direction we are headed, slowly but surely. Much better than a smash and grab boom and bust and straight back down again.
