Surely there is a middle ground here. I doubt any city fan on here expects us to be anything other than in a dog-fight for 17th place with 6 other teams. However wanting us to have the best opportunity in that dogfight is hardly delusions of grandeur.
If you hadn't noticed, were doing things within our means ie. on the cheap in terms of premiership expenditures. What definitely better options are there on the cheap than a very good, not only cheap but allegedly FREE jermaine jenas? I'd like to hear what realistic options you actually think we should choose ahead of jenas within our budget. Go!
SSN saying Jenas is here. Might be rehashing old news, might actually know better than Bucko. Who knows?
Embarrassing that we are getting a lesson in realism from a fan of another club, but you are exactly right, in everything you said.
Not a joke, SSN are reporting he's with us today... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11711/8849011
Cattermole, decent player, but if he isn't injured he's usually suspended. We need a 38 game player in there to sure hold our midfield. Palacios, obviously isn't available at a price we can afford else he'd already be here. Bruce has been interested awhile, Hughes wants him there, it will take a sizeable bid to pry a player away from a club when his manager wants him there. Also he's done far less than Jenas since leavings spurs at around the same time, so if anything he's a worse option. Ibrahim, I don't see how he is a better option in any way. I'm not sure he's even played in the premier league, never mind proven, and I don't think any of us have seen him play half the amount to make a genuine assessment. 4. They are all different players to Jenas, all 3 of those will hold the defensive midfield position where Jenas will play the more advanced role. No, you lose.
£120 million for promotion, why didn't we just pay the £100 million they want and offer him £20 million wages for the first year with a relegation release clause. He'd have kept us up and been better business than any we've done so far, and if we did go back down we wouldn't actually have lost anything.
It was a rhetorical question. The fact is, they are both contracted to a club and need permission to leave the club.
What we need is for Steve Bruce to be possessed by the spirit of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor and then get a few "past it" or "mediocre"players that Bruce/Clough/Taylor build a team around that becomes the best in the league. With our luck Brucey would be possessed by the other Peter Taylor and then we'd spend all season defending a 0-0 draw....
It seems that Jenas himself has delusions of grandeur... http://www1.skysports.com/news/11095/8625718/ But I will keep going back to the stats 2012/13... 19 appearances, 2 goals, 0 assists. 2011/12... 3 appearances, 0 goals, 0 assists 2010/11... 28 appearances, 0 goals, 2 assists 2009/10... 24 appearances, 1 goal, 2 assists Is this the type of player who is suddenly going to unlock defences in an advanced midfield role?
Barton No ferking thanks!! From what I saw of Jenas for the Drama Queens he appeared a little off the pace but a possibility.Cattermole NO WAY!! Palacios hardly likely with Sparky saying he might figure for Stoke (might just be angling for a decent fee) As for the Man City kid I guess too much opposition to be a contender. I'm still hopeful of a "socks blower off'er"
Ibrahim is available on a free, the fact that he is contracted to another club is therefore irrelevant.
Would be v happy with this signing. Sometimes I get a little jealous when Cardiff et al are banding around £8m plus fees, but I have to say Bruce has signed v wisely for v little money in EPL terms
