Fryatt doesn't like playing as a lone striker, hence why he only got 16 goals, with a striker along side him, he could have got about double that
In fairness Fryatts best games for Leicester were playing off big Stevie Howard - Fryatt is very ineffective as a lone striker, If he was indeed playing as a lone striker last season, I'm surprised he got 16
But, getting back on topic, I'm glad Beckford is staying - Yes his attitude infuriates at times, so did Yakubu's, but I'd rather have someone that infuriated me with his attitude, but who scores goals over a player who runs his heart out playing with bags of passion, but who doesn't score regularly
Josh - LUFC, Fryatt hates playing as a lone striker, if he had a big man along side him (e.g. Heskey) he'd get over 20 goals in the Championship. It's difficult to say wether he could make the step-up but you get more time on the ball in the Premier League and Fryatt would love that as he is very good with the ball at his feet but is often caught trying to take an extra touch when he should just hit it. At Chapionship level though, Fryatt is not average, there are very few strikers in this league I'd rather have than him.
Bruce was only a Prem a manager for eight and a bit years actually. Seasons 2003-2006 (4 years) with Brum in the Prem. Season 2008 (1 year) with Brum/Wigan, 2009 (1 year) with Wigan, Seasons 2010-11 (2 years) with Sunderland, and then till November 2011 (generously call it 1/2) with Sunderland. 4+1+1+2+1/2 = 8 1/2. (A great Fellini film.). Just in the interests of accuracy.
Oh by the way Charles. Jermaine Beckford Appearances last season - 44 Goals last season - 15 Goals per game - 2.9 Matty Fryatt Appearances last season - 48 Goals last season - 16 Goals per game - 3
League goals are far more important though, and we didn't even play Matty in any cup games. Beckord got about half of his in the FA Cup didn't he? Think you've written that wrong, if Fryatt got 3 goals per game he'd be the most prolific striker of all-time. Do you mean games per goal?
I'm surprised Beckford made that many appearances. It felt like he was left out a fair bit. How many of those are starts?
There is no doubt fryatt is the best striker that has ever lived.... lets wait three months into next season... for the first, fryatt is s h i t e on the hull board...like last season...
6 goals in the FA Cup, he's obviously **** hot when playing Swindon. It's league goals that matter and he got 9 in 39 appearances, which is fairly poor for a £3m striker who, outside of West Ham, is probably the best paid striker in the league.
The thing about the Fryatt Beckford debate is Fryatt is their main striker. Beckford isnt ours we have David Nugent. Plus Jamie Vardy, Martyn Waghorn and Jeff Schlupp They have Fryatt and Mclean along with some misfits
Fryatt is a very good striker, however he is only of use if the team plays a certain way. A rough ridgid 4-4-2 next to a strong target man and a CM who can slot him in, and he is one of the best in the league. You cannot ignore the fact that he is an excellent striker. However, play him in a system that is different to that and he is a passenger, which is sadly the reason we moved him on as we started to play a style of football that didnt suit him. If we went back to that old system, im sure most of you would welcome him back.
If the lower league clubs are a easy prey for Championship strikers to raise their goal tally, why couldn't any of Hull's striikers score at home against Crawley in the FA Cup? Perhaps its not that simple is it?
