Both of us work and earn a decent salary.

Renting for 15 years will cost is about 170k We live in an apartment block in a 3 bedroom. Now you might think that is not much different than paying 200k interest.
But.. how much does it cost to own and maintain a house for 15 years. I'd say a lot, including all the service charges that come with owning one.

Where we are now, we had to put 25k down and then we sign an ongoing lease that does not get renewed, we can live here for the 15 years/
1200 a month and for that we get.
Constant hot water as it's a system that feeds the whole building.
Free big ass Laundrette in the ground floor if needed
Our own storage room in the basement
    A secure bycicle room
Another shared room for kids bikes\carts and buggies
    20MB internet
We don't pay for repairs and even had the Sauna refitted as it was a bit worn, 100% free
100% refund back for any improvements we make

So I am happy to pay high taxes here thanks

Throw free healthcare education and almost free childcare.. it makes sense to do what we are doing. But you are right, this is not so possible in the UK, because of inequality. Imagine how it is for those on hte dole, some think they are living the life of riley.. I was on the dole years ago, there is nothing more depressing

when I was in NZ I noticed that everything, from petrol to house prices, from food to clothing, was cheaper than here even though they paid more INCOME tax, proportionally. VAT was almost non-existent too. Fairer on all. Dunno what it's like now.

Yeah that's the thing, if high taxes, which generate a lot of revenue because it's not just income, stuff imported is more taxed than domestic products. There is also a lot of tax on sugary stuff. A pack of rizla is €1.40 which is almost 3 times what it is in Ireland but you can get a Finnish brand for half that... it is worth it when you get back more in services.

Even energy which is part nuke, I got a letter each of the past 2 years telling me the price has dropped.

I laughed when I heard that even traffic tickets are proportional to your wages, it's a % fine of your earnings unless the minimum or maximum penalties.

I bet that would get the City of London's knickers in a twist that one <laugh>

@donga darko Right now they are taking medical cards from kids with Down's syndrome AND heart conditions in Ireland <doh>

The review processes are wait.. handled by a German company... cos in times of tight money the gov selects one of Merkel's chums over a domestic solution thus keeping the revenue in our own economy, nope.

****ing shameful **** from top to bottom mate, all across the EU, Germany is chugging along tho.. all is well

All people up to this point thought "Bacon sandwich" when they heard "Labour" thanks to the media :D

    Russian UK embassy tweeted
"Imagine what UK media would print if the Russian leader called the leader of the rival political party a "threat to National Security"

    <laugh>

    They have a point.

    So the buffoonery has started

The shadow agricultural minister is a vegan who has said in the past that sheep and cattle farming should be stopped

Diane Abbott is shadow international something or other. This is the same champagne socialist who sent her kids to private school arguing she had to as a "West Indian Mother"

Yet this man expects the voting public to take him seriously

I thought the vegan appointment was strange myself but.. what exactly does the shadow agricultural minister do exactly. Cameron said Mandela was a terrorist, people say stupid ****, holding it againt them their whole lives is ******ed.

Where someone sends their kids to school is irrelevant in this matter and just journo cack. I don't know anything about her though. Champagne socialist, catchy <laugh>

As for the voter, I think Corbyn is probably more popular than the media let on, there are so many people shafted by neoliberalism there#s bound to be support.

Abbott is the ultimate Animal Farm politician. Wants equality for all, but just a bit more for herself.

I'd consider it progress that they would talk about it rather than just killing him.

The Argentine ambassador has welcomed Corbyn becoming Labour leader. Wonder if this has anything to do with Corbyn saying we should let them have the Falklands.

It's obvious that no matter who Corbyn picks for his Shadow cabinet, the press will find some way of showing him to be some crazy lunatic. Seriously, who could he pick that the press couldn't punch holes through?

'A long term negotiated settlement' with 'some degree of joint administration' is what Corbyn has said re. the Falklands.

The corporate media will look for negatives in anything he proposes

Diane Abbott is an absolutely awful appointment, she'll prove to be a complete liability.

The Tories must be pissing themselves

If he is as bad as the right wing hacks reckon he'll dig himself a hole he can't climb out of, they haven't got the bottle to wait just in case the electorate that aren't doing very well under the cuts and austerity measures actually elect him.<whistle>

The Argentina and NI thing is just waffle from an old "revolutionary", he wouldn't have the powers needed to give the 6 counties in Ulster to the Irish State or the Falkland/Malvina's to Argentina even as PM, both of those places have got to vote to leave the UK/British Protectorate by a majority of the people that live there.

Just let's see how things pan out.

Russia is well known for gang politics, Ukraine is exactly the same, mind you Ukraine's parliament still breaks out in fist fights <laugh>

That wasn't the point and you know it. I made light of it coming from the Russian embassy after all, I was just appreciating the humour from them because it was unexpected

I blame all those movies you watched growing up, Russians were the bad guys in so many movies, and now it's Brown people who hollywood make into the evil bogey man :D
