I've bit my tongue long enough . To compare Sousa to Laudrup in any way , shape or forum is just to disrespectful to Laudrup .
Different types of people and player. But as a coach they have one thing in common: given the talent at hand and circumstances of the moment, they achieved the best result possible for the club. Sousa's product wasn't always pretty but he did achieve a remarkable season given at the start of that season, with the goals / players lost during the summer, we had a projected -23 goal difference staring us in the face, which at the time was a number guaranteed to relegate a club in the Championship. There was only one thing he could do, which was to re-work our defensive system, which he did. It's not his fault he had to work with Pintado, Beattie, Kuqi - such stellar goal scoring machines ... NOT! He also had an almost impossible round of injuries and suspensions during end of Aug / September / early Oct. Remember the team we fielded against Scunthorpe and how that game finished - we started a young kid on the wing who was barely 5 foot tall. We ended up playing Doncaster at the end of the season with Trundle on the field handling the ball and getting the only goal we needed to get into the playoffs disallowed. During that game he made every adjustment he could possibly make to get the result. Remarkable coaching.
I don't think you can compare Laudrup's and Sousa's time at all. One had no main striker, the other had just spent 12 million on Bony and also had Michu in his ranks.
Watched a pre West Ham interview with Laudrup . Although by the end of the interview he looked a bit more frisky , he looked very tired and not to interested in any of the media peoples' questions . He tires of chairmen and media types , looks somewhat beaten and waiting to leave . He'll do a good job and his best but looks almost like his heart isn't totally in it . Huw ****ed up, should have left Laudrup be imo.
What should have Huw done sea? Let Laudrup's agent pimp the likes of Ash etc to the highest bidder? The Turk had no right in trying to offload Ash to Arsenal and Huw was right in telling him to **** off
Yes if he thought he could get better for less money then he sold Ash for, remember Ash's agent was all for a move last season all tutu did was turn it into reality, judging by the form of Ash thid season selling him for £10m would have been the smarter move, nobody will take him now and we will end up with another Monk and Tate scenario in a few years . Would a defence of say Caulker and chico have been worse or better ? its fair to say that tutu was very good in bringing in players that have quality , canas, chico, michu, pablo,JDG to name but a few ifits true that Ash was being touted for a move then im quite sure Laudrup had a better option to come in
Well when his club get relegated in the summer maybe we can have him on the cheap, as he will vastly improve our defence Maybe they would have brought somebody better in, im just pointing out to Seabreeze that it isn't all HJ fault. Sell Ash for 5-10 million in the summer, buy Caulker, and we'd have four really good CB in Caulker, Amat, Barkley and Chico
We will get nothing much for Ash now, over 30yrs old and has had an indifferent season, we and Ash have missed the window on that one now .
Sorry Norway I forgot you were propping up Sousa's corner as well, how could I ever forget that!.......... Yankee's post #202 is on the money, well said there Yankee. We will all get infuriated with Jenkins on times, me under Sousa, and some of you boys now under Laudrup, but at the end of the day, our Board have done us proud, and Huw Jenkins while not perfect, only has our clubs interest at heart, so I'm very forgiving of him of late!................
If thats what happened valley but who knows what was going on with Ash . I'm sure Williams was in there pondering himself if he should jump ship . Our only chance to keep Laudrup for a third season was to let him call the shots and get him what he wants . He's assembled a pretty good group , a group that will only follow him .If we could keep Laudrup for a magical 3rd season , there is no telling how long Laudrup will stay , and what he could build .Huw still has a bad taste in his mouth fromm Sousa and he sees Laudrup as the same . Drop the guard for a bit Huw and go to your manager and help him help you , fix it . Get our manager happy and relaxed , he's got history to make the next few months
The feud between the manager and chairman has crept onto the pitch within the players. Where they had no fear , fear reigns now . Both manager and chairman better show a combined front or suffer the consequences of unfocused players and very unruly fans,
Disagree here. A professional player shouldn't give a damn what happens between a chairman and manager, and if it is affecting the players mentaly, then the manager needs to sort it out, and drop players if they are not 100% focused ahead of a game.
But if he did that he wouldn't have a team. I don't think there are 11 players with 100% focus at the moment.
If that's the case plastic, then Laudrup's man management skills need to be questioned. I keep reading and hearing that so and so will be leaving if and when Laudrup leaves us. Let's be honest, other than Michu what other player that ML has brought in would other clubs look at to buy from our club the way they have been performing (barring Bony of course)?
I think his man management skills are at the root of the problem. He's never stayed anywhere long and hasn't really had much success in management. I don't think he's ready for the Premier League. What I don't understand is how we did so well up to the League Cup and then seem to have fallen apart after it. Did they all get over-confident and then end up losing all their confidence. Or have other teams just figure out how we play.
You live on fantasy island if you think players aren' t effected by manager , chairman squabbles. This had the earmarks of a match made in heaven , Jenkins unable to keep a manager for more than a season , Laudrup unabe to stay at a club more than a season and we start a second season with the same man at the helm , perfect.Huw couldn't leave well enough alone and Laudrup can't ditch that chip on his shoulder he's had since leaving Brondby . Both should get there **** together, like professionals , because the opportunities the next few months bring may never come again.
I agree. Don't know what in happened in the summer or who was to blame, but if HJ and board were not prepared to support ML they should have allowed him to leave. Instead it appears they have kept him on without fully supporting him. That is bound to have a negative effect on everyone. This season is a huge opportunity for us but we appear to be shooting ourselves in the foot with off-field politics. We do not need media reports of arguments, replacement managers etc I am sure ML is gutted that we are in relegation fight, FA cup and Europe and despite clear availability of young talented players in transfer window we have done very little while our rivals strengthen. All we can do now is support the team and hope for the best.
