I think appointing Laudrup will excite the fans and players. Imagine what he might achieve with Dyer, Sinclair and Routledge....I'm sure he could teach them a few new tricks as well as improving their final ball. Also, if you were in Siggys shoes, would you want to sit on the bench at one of the best clubs in the UK, or be managed / coached by one of the worlds greatest players. IMO this could be just the appointment to lure him back to the Liberty
Don't worry aussie , at the first sign of " Sousa " type traits , Huw will give him the thanks , but no thanks . The ego possibility was the first thing that worried me about Laudrup , but that isn't really a fair assessment because it's based on nothing but a gut feeling .
The main thing with Laudrup, or ANY new manager, is that he will have to be made aware of the financial constraints from the word go. Fortunately, his managerial experience is with more modest clubs such as Brondby, Getafe and Mallorca, who didn't have money to throw around, so he'll be used to working on a budget. If he can gel with the club and be prepared to grow with us, we could be in for some halcyon days. Lots of "ifs", of course, starting with the biggest one. IF he's appointed.....
Manages Videoton in Hungary. Qualified for Champions League by getting runners up spot. Head-butted a reporter recently by all accounts.
love to see laudrup but im not sure whether he will be able to put up with jinks unfortunatly, he is a very hard man to get on with at the best of times that anyone who knows him will testify.....I cant see laudrup being a yes man and that will cause a lot of problems. still we need someone asap as there is a lot of work to do before pre=season. we have not been told yet if the usa trip is still on and nobody knows at the club because iv asked, I personelly want to know so i can organize things like flights hotels and transport. so i hope they hurry up and let us fans who are going one way or another what is happening....
I hear we will have an announcement by Wednesday, so looking forward to that. Regarding Siggy! If you remember he was on the bench in Germany, and none to happy about that, so unless Rodgers is going to put him in front of Gerrard, which will never happen, why would he go to Liverpool to sit on the bench again? Think all this is paper talk, but then again he's only a kid, on a learning curve!..............
Very true. Watching compilations of him, what strikes me is how adept he is at changing the pace of the game, from slow passing one moment then BANG! Either a pass or a skill and it's a goal. We need that, and no doubt he'd help all of the players whose job that is.
Part of me wants Siggy to change his mind, then Laudrup say 'no' and spend the 7million on someone he wants.
LJ .... I'm sure that the new manager will make an assessment in short order about the Sig deal and I expect that he will either immediately work to close it or veto the deal and reapply the cash somewhere else. Now we have 14 million to play with; the 7 currently allocated to Sig plus the reported 7 or so from Liverpool. That's a lot of cash. Sig''s delay may well be his undoing.
Starting to think Jones will eventually get the job . The respect show to him by senior members asking for him will tip him our way . I'll be good with that , who would know whose best for the job than the players . Announced in the next day or so IMO .
I just hope that Huw isn't just going through the motions of interviewing "top class" candidates when his target was Jones all along. Jones is NOT top class and, as far as I'm concerned, the players can go and do one if they are putting pressure on. What do they care about our club? They are all very highly paid mercenaries who will be off the minute their wallets start itching. I want Huw Jenkins to do what is right for the CLUB, not what the players feel is right. If Jones takes us into relegation, you won't see those players' backsides for dust as they scramble for the next club to line their pockets. Bet most of them won't be back in the Championship with the rest of us. Appointing a new manager is a gamble at the best of times. There is no proven formula, nor are there any guarantees that the next guy, whoever he is, will be successful. We have been "lucky" so far, with a degree of good judgement thrown in but, on behalf of all the supporters, Huw has a duty to appoint the BEST man available for the job. How can Jones remotely be described as that? He failed to get us into the play-offs with RM then spent all his time in the Premier League struggling to avoid relegation - and that was with Martinez' help; he'll be on his own with us. Some CV that!!! Oh, and when invited back to manage us he told us no thanks and then did it again. Can't wait to have him back, I don't think!! No doubt the players want him envisaging some sort of cushy, familiar routine. Perhaps they feel that someone like Laudrup, or similar, will be too demanding. He might actually want to get them properly and fully fit (perish the thought!!!) for the first time in a long time. We all know how the players enjoyed working with the ball under Rodgers but it seemed at times as though some solid stamina work had gone missing in some of our games. I'm not saying that Laudrup is the answer - I don't know. Nobody does; there are too many factors that could affect things. But of one thing I am sure, Jones is not the one. Just my opinion, of course.
Ally G more like. jinks wont give up on the man he really wants and that is jones, He cant have much faith in laudrup taking the job if he keeps on going for jones all the time, Is he the big name he is talking about??? its getting silly now with this will he or wont he saga, it like watching eastenders...
