Hayes has been unlucky. This deal would be BWP backup, leaving Euell in utility and Smith as the prospect. I fear we may be taking him for he sake of it, but you can't argue with having another quality league one player in the squad to come in when needed.

Kermo & BWP or Hayes & Schlupp, couldn't argue with that

That's it's Ben- its kind of "for the sake of it". I'd like a full time man to compete with BWP. Wouldn't want it to affect a young mans career.

If we signed a Hoskins on a 3 year deal, then you know it's a long term competition.

He may be third choice at Charlton, but at Leicester he would be fourth after Nugent, Beckford and Howard, and by Jan will be fifth when we sign a new striker. So at least at Charlton he'll play 15 minutes most games.

I think this would excellent business for Charlton, but from our point of view, maybe better to send him to a team struggling to score goals?

Sounds great for us. Problem is we've got a settled starting line up,and no one is going to walk into it unless, god forbid, we get an injury. That means this guy will be a bench player. Great for us to have him, but not ideal for him or Leicester.

I am sure the Leicester boys understand but when they got out of L1 it was with their own players and loans who they signed the next summer. Chris was part of that squad so saw how it was done.

Now then, if the boy is fourth/fifth in line at Leicester then perhaps Chris had agreed a deal similar to the Liverpool ones that Leicester had and we would get the lad for the rest of 2011/12 on loan with a view to a permanent? If that were true my guess would be that the 'sell on fee' would be quite high.

Perhaps the forward Leicester are looking at is BWP and it is some sort of swap plus cash deal?

Who knows, let's see what the website says in January<ok>

Have you considered the possibility that BWP might not be there after Jan?

Yes <ok> I did talk about a swap deal mate. Not that I would be happy with that, Bradley is contracted to Summer 2013 and is in talks with Club to extend his current contract :)

I noticed there's a rumour doing the rounds in Brighton that they might bidding for him in Jan, that's why I posed the question. <ok>

<laugh> Brighton, no don't think he will be going there, the owners we got 12 months ago have said that the target is promotion this year so it will take a very good offer to get our top goalscorer in January. More than Brighton would be willing to pay.

All of Bradley's family live in South London and he likes living near them <ok>

Maybe Schlupp is an idea if BWP hasn't signed a new contract by Jan, one of those "just in case" things.

If Brighton are interested, it wouldn't surprise me if the had the kind of funds available to sign BWP, they spent a fair bit of cash last summer.

End of the day, Schlupp will get more game time at Charlton atm, hes not going to start over Beckford and Nugent mainly due to experience i guess. Hes not been given enough game time at Leicester to prove himself as a first team player, which is a shame.

Oh and Schlupp is an international player too <ok>

Am I the only one who wants to see Schlupp on OUR bench and come on most games until he's gained enough match day experience to start every game - Lets face it if he was on the bench against Hull we wouldn't have lost that game!

While it would be good to see a quality prospect like Schupp at Charlton, whether on a longer-term loan or permanently (I don't like short loans except as a prelude to a permanent signing, they have been our undoing for the part three seasons), if Charlton are going to pay out big bucks for another striker then I would like to see a different sort of striker, more of a traditional centre-forward, who could either play instead of BWP or alongside him if we needed to try something different.

We have to accept that the better managers in Div One are going to get familiar with our pattern of play (which has remained much the same so far). We might find the second half of the season a bit harder going for that reason (maybe our draw at Walsall was an indication of this). If so, it would be good to have a different type of striker to give us another option.

For me it's the 'fear factor' - we've paid a lot of money out for our current strikers, Beckford, Nugent and Vassell (in wages if not transfer fees) and to displace one of them is, from amanager perspective, a bit of a risk ... but Martin O'Neil did it with Heskey all those years ago - I'd love to see him given a run of 3 or 4 matches but there is too much focus on short termism ..

Beckfor looks like he has goals in him - but needs better service and a couple of goals to max his self belief

Nugent puts in impressive effort - but he is not really a centre forward (or at least he doesn't appear to think so!) - works very hard for the team but generally in areas of the pitch where I don't want my centre forward to be ...

Schlupp looks a real 'prospect' - just needs to mature - if that has to happen with you then all well and good - IMHO he'll be a terrific player once he gets a decent run in 'a' first team

Sven rated Jeff Schlupp very highly and what i have seen of him he looks a very good prospect. Over the years not many people have broke through our academy but we have had a few good players come through. I think a loan move would be very good.

Back when we was in league 1 we practically got promoted with 2 strikers (Fryatt and Howard). BWP has never quite cut it before in the championship but is starting to look a decent player for Charlton now. He does seem a simaliar player to Jeff Schlupp so maybe Chris wants to bring Jeff in to keep BWP on his toes and help him.
Good luck to Charlton anyway. Chris Powell is a top man and showed us loyalty, professionalism and was great with the fans and younger players. He said recently the man who he has learnt the most from is Nigel Pearson

Proud - I like Charlton, more so since CP went there, but I can't see the benefit to Schlupp or Leicester to sending him on loan to Charlton to sit on their bench to keep their main striker on his toes - If he goes out on loan it should be to a club that will gaurentee he plays a certain percentage of games - I suggest 80% - 85%

Its a long season and there will be times where there are injuries suspensions and people suffer a loss of form. Schlupp will get a chance and if he takes it he will stay in the team. If he is as good as we all think he is then he will have a big role to play at Charlton. If Nigel thinks Schlupp will benefit from the move then it will be worth it

Now that would be a good idea, the only stumbling block is that Crawley have absolutely no reason to sell him - he's well within contract, they're top of League Two and they definitely don't need the money...
