Doesn't say it anymore. I'm starting to seriously think this whole thing is complete tosh, balderdash, poppycock and more tosh. Why would Marseille do this? It doesn't make any sense....Can anyone enlighten me?

God, I hope this is true and it comes to fruition. The man has had many chances in life; he is an embarrassment to a club I have followed since childhood, and that's a bloody long time!

No, no! Not necessary, both clubs are in the European Union, and Barton is British!

I was talking about Mbia! As he plays for Cameroon, I guess he has a passport from there. He is an International player so he should get a work permit OK, but it will take a few days.

I feel the same Carlos - whoever is running Marseille would seem to be stark raving bonkers to swap Barton for Mbia! Or maybe Mbia has the temperament of a Cameroonian Joey?!

There inevitably is a cost involved but whatever it is it is worth paying. 2 problems solved at the same time. Rid of a corrosive influence and CB in.

Diakite played in France, we all knew he signed but it wasn't made official because we were waiting for his work permit. So yes it is necessary.

Diakite is a non-EU National, so needed a work permit. If JB goes to Marseille, he won't need one as he is an EU National transferring between two EU clubs. If M'Bia comes the other way, it will depend on whether he has dual citizenship. His Wikipedia page states that he holds a French passport. if that is true, no work permit should be required.

I wasn't taking about Barton, that bit is obvious. But Mbia, unless he does hold dual nationality will need a work permit.

Hughes has confirmed that the clubs are talking but nothing concrete yet.

It appears Mbia has a French passport so won't be an issue. Got to say, if this becomes official, it's a fantastic bit of business by the club. Mbia was linked with a £20m move to Arsenal and Bayern 2 years ago and apparently played very well at centre-back when he moved back there during last season.

Just found a disapointing tweet if true

    Kane Davies ‏@KaneD101

Marseille president Vincent Labrune: "The likelihood Mbia to sign for QPR is very low and, in this case, loan move for Barton is unthinkable"
