Letting Jazz go out on loan is risky until we have a definite on Taylor. His agent could still engineer something at the last moment. Where was he today - day off or taking a physical?
Can we really make an accurate assumption whether a player who hasn't played for us will be better for us than a player who has, before he even plays for us? No. What I can say, and this is only opinion, is that I think we can do better than Jazz. I agree that he's had limited opportunities, but those that he's had he hasn't shown enough for me, even when we were at Championship level (I accept that he was younger). Never stands out, but always prone to an error. I'd love to see him get a run in his preferred midfield role, but the PL is not the place to pick up experience, and he has no top-flight experience in midfield unfortunately. He's a player that's been hurt by how rapidly we rose.
Tbh, rather than style, I'd rather us have defenders that can defend first. There's another 6 players on the pitch that can do all of our attacking.
It was a genuine question of your opinion - I've only seen him play twice and he's not stood out but he may be very good - my view is Olsen is no better than Jazz and we could put the money spent on Olsen to more of a priority.
But Bob looking at our poor defending in recent weeks lets start with defenders who can tackle and defend first and then as a benefit can get forward as well. Ollsson for me is poor defensively but good going forward. Trying to think of a full back who can defend and also give us something going forward. I have got one who would be perfect for us Spurs Ben Davies.
Fair enough. If that's your view, then it makes sense to do it that way. For those who don't see Jazz as PL quality, then finding a replacement, even from the Championship with PL experience, is a main priority. A naturally left-sided player to specifically replace Taylor and an experienced RW to oust Dyer and mentor Barrow are my personal top priorities. Britton, Carroll and Ki will hold together DM for the rest of this season. My other priority is to cancel Shelvey's contract.
BK I believe that we also need some real presence in central midfield. We have some excellent players there but no real presence for when the going gets a bit tough.
To be fair to Ki, he's absolutely bossed midfield (both offensively and defensively) in a lot of games this season. Long term, we do need our "Patrick Viera" alongside Ki. My issue is that Monk seems to think that Shelvey is that guy. Many of our worst performances have come with Shelvey trying to play DM. We've seen Ki, Britton and Carroll each struggling alongside Shelvey at some point this season.
Yes. I really thought Ki was not up to much in his first season and wasn't sure about him returning but he has proven me wrong, for me he has been more important than Siggy - I'm still waiting for others to do the same.
Ki for me this season has been a revelation and is doing now what I expected from him when he signed from Celtic. But we can't only rely on him as it shows now with him away. I cant think off the top of my head who would be the man who would give us the presence alongside him. But I want someone who works box to box and loves a tackle when needed. Probably a Wanyama from Southampton (i know he wouldnt come yo us but a player of the same ilk). There has to be the right player out there as long as GM realises that we need one.
I rate Jazz, and feel he has not been given enough game time to show his full potential, I actually think he is of PL quality if given the chance, but I also agree that going to a club like Fulham will also help his progression and confidence, but he is only going for 1 month so not worth debating is it really?
