Fair play to The Rod, not the greatest in terms of ability, but he's a willing runner who'll work very hard.
Southampton and Hodgeson must see the potential for him to go on and do great things. I like to think there is more to come than just work rate.
If his finishing improved or with a bit of luck, he could have had a couple of great goals. I know that sounds like nonsense, but he is capable of winding his way through a mass of players so he has the skill.
This is truly a great time to be a Saints supporter, It comes to something when 3 are selected for the senior squad and 3 others are snapping at their heels?
It's got to be time to dig this out.
Chuffed for the guy, yet its pretty scary that he is considered for the England team, seeing that the only competion for the left hand side was that cheating **** Young or Welbeck who both can not get into Utds first team For us he plays a pivital role through his work rate and with his willingness to run at players. Not sure England is set up that way. Hoping other fans will not expect him to be a traditional wide man. As a player who can add protect for Baines when he is pushing up I would say he is perfect. Townsend is nailed on for the right so hoping Lallana gets the left spot.
Rickie with glowing praise for Jay and Adam.
If Lallana doesn't start on the left I'd be fairly enraged, he's the best player England have got available there and he is also the perfect player to complement Baines, cutting inside and making room for him and I'm sure they'd come up with some nice interplay.
Totally agree, Fran. I don't get this "lacks ability" line. When he's on his game, as he seems to be quite often these days, he is real handful for any defence. A very modest lad by the looks of the interviews, and I'd hate to see him get cocky, but maybe he'll become a bit more ruthless in front of goal. I'm as pleased about Adam Lallana's inclusion as I am amazed by Nathaniel Clyne's exclusion. Surely he must get a call soon!
I've just looked at the internet for the first time today!!!!! WOW!!! Seeing this actually brought a lump to my throat. So proud to be a Saints fan at the moment. To think that 2 of our league one stars could be playing for England - We'll maybe even have 3 Saints on the pitch at the same time!!!!! Well done to Jay, Adam and Rickie - no one seems surprised by Lambert, it seems he is the 'old hand' now!
Happy days Great for the players and a boost for the fans. Of course we want them all to do well, but how well. What if jrod plays blinders and takes Rockies 'spot' on the plane to Brazil. Is there any room for sentiment in football?
