there's obviously gay players in the top flight, le tissier admitted spot betting after he retired and not a word was said when they were booting the ball out if play straight from the kick off.

the only thing that may not have happened regularly is full on match fixing but thats happened in Italy and everyone kept quiet for a long time. no one wants to be the player that speaks out, especially against a former manager as his current manager may take exception to it.

Sorry but how does that relate to my comment. An agent IMO would leak it if it suited his or his clients agenda. Players are less likely I agree but this is not something that is illegal from the players point. Unlike being involved with spot fixing

grassing up a former boss is not going to have a good effect on your current boss. it doesn't matter if its the player or agent, its probably going to have a negative effect on that players future.

would you hire someone who grassed up their previous employer?

Anyone remeber the Martin Rowlands incident from a while back? Club dinner & wanting his money?
Didnt he say something VERY similar to this.

I did point it out at the time but got shouted down

Does anyone believe me now? <ok>...no smoke without fire and all that !

So leaking anonymously by agent to the papers. Come on let's get real. Agents leak things all the time. Actually I would employ someone if they grassed up their boss for mal practice. Shows they have integrity

I'm no legal expert mate, but I do know that anything said or maybe even just repeated on the internet that is proved to be libellous has been included in prosecutions over recent times.

True, Col. For example, if a newspaper repeats a libellous statement made by someone else, the defamed person can join the newspaper in on any legal proceedings. The papers this morning are reporting the fact of Puncheon's negative allegations about NW, but are being careful not to report exactly what Puncheon was claiming.

So agent leaks to the papers, person in question takes legal action against the paper. The journo has a choice to name the agent and thus the player in question or go to prison.

They leak stuff all the time but hardly ever stuff that will end up in a court case for a good reason.

If anyone says Warnock took money, they are committed libel if its not true, if anyone says Puncheon said Warnock took money, that is ok as it is a fact.

Thats why it hit the papers because they are allowed to publish that but not the original accusation unless its true.

    Or not proven/proved?

Havent the laws in relation to libel been changed recently, in that it is now necessary to show evidence that "serious harm" has been caused by the allegations, which is a higher bar than previously needed to attain?
Whistle-blowers are being afforded a higher degree of latitude than before.

I dont think theres any doubt this would cause serious harm to Warnock as hed never get employed again.

If it goes to court, Puncheon might be able to get half a dozen players to confirm it and then Warnock would be in heaps of trouble with the FA and tax man.

Agree, I can't see this going to court. Can of worms and all that.

Please read carefully.. I said anonymously. It then gets investigated. Case to then answer or not. this would appear to be how the match and spot fixing has come to light.. papers or authorities have set up stings or secret filming. Just seems highly unlieky it has not come out. even a retired football player with either an axe to grind or needsmoney would not sell the story. If the allegation is true then what is there to fear from a court, especially as it is alleged to be widespread as far as Warnock is concerned.
one final thought on this from me.. I find it hard to believe he would have been as successful as he has been, operating in that manner. At the end of the day I dont know the truth but hope whaterever that is is comes to light sooner rather than later. Although a refund on SWP wages would have been a better idea.

Puncheon would need backing from other players as well, and hes not going to get it.
Hes deleted the tweets, which is practically withdrawing the statements anyway, it will go no further.

... not so sure about that Wizard ... if Warnock does nothing some might / will assume there is some substance behind the accusations - don't think he can afford for that to happen - at the least I suspect his lawyers will be looking for a very public retraction and apology ...
