I read that somewhere can't find it now, would have thought the club would be itching to announce it if we had though...
Looking at a few forums, Pompey fans rate him highly. He's certainly the sort of player we need to be attracting. Now if we can smuggle Halford out of Frattin Park too...
Looks like next week, then! And for once, it's not Leeds that are slowing down the transfer .... http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....251?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed
Looks as though your first to kick-off the summer transfers, and the play-offs aren't even over yet http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11688/7726536/Pearce-set-for-Leeds In fact, most of the transfer in and out stories are about you guys, Warnock knows what he wants and what he doen't want by the looks, top man for not faffing about
Strange - Just did a search for latest news on google and found a google link to When I clicked it the page wasn't found despite it being published 40 minutes ago at around 8.45am. Searching the YEP I find this story I am wondering if the YEP were told to change the title from set to unveil? Now wondering if we shall have a delay, I was surprised that we were allowed to make a signing before the season officially finished so maybe this has something to do with the delays?
Nice first signing, seems a bit of interest was building for his signature and I read Norwich wanted him too but as the Premiership hasn't concluded yet they were unable to make a move? Portsmouth fans seem to rate him, was a captain at his previous two clubs aged just 24 this is EXACTLY the type of signing I have been hoping for, let us hope with Warnock behind him as well this lad turns into something special.
In different circumstances Pompey could easilly have gotten £1.5million for Pearce but apparently Leeds were the only interested club prepared to pay money up front and Pompey need money very quickly to even make it to next season, holding out for something bigger would be out of the question. Its a cut price bargin for a no nonsense, consistant defender who can play central defense or left-back and is a leader on the pitch - he was Pompey's Captain after Lawrence went to Cardiff.
If we are to stand any chance of promotion this season our only option might be to snap up all Portsmouth's best players before everybody else does. Although I think it will give us an unrealistic reflection of what the club is capable of.
Every club Pearce has played in have gone into administration and near liquidation, could be a bad omen....
They're also clubs that have employed Harry Redknapp. I find it more likely that he was the source of that financial ****wittery rather than Pearce.
The more I read about him the more I look forward to seeing him in a Leeds shirt, it does seem that Warnock stole a massive jump on the rest securing this guy http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....-to-become-fans-favourite-interview-1-4524688
great signing for you lot will be sad to see him go. his effort levels are amazing and his ability makes you forget how young he is he's a real good old fashioned no nonsense centre back. bargain price too i would say he could be worth 1-1.5 in the coming years, looks like we have a 20 % sell on clause in there too so not all to bad. sounds like he didn't want to go but i think he's the the type of character that won't let that effect his performances, after all we sold him once after he came up through our youth system and soon wanted him back after he impressed at bournemouth. there are a few others that could fit in well in a promotion chasing championship team with stability. i wouldn't be surprised if offers (low ones) were made for halford, norris , varney and ward from leeds as well. be sad to the back of some decent players but on the other hand it will be great to see some of our youth given a chance to step up to the mark and take us forward without the ridiculous wages!!
Thanks for that, I did read that his true value is already nearer to 1.5 million but the situation Portsmouth find themselves in means accepting quick and fast bids for players. We have been there done that and worn the t-shirt so I wish you well.
