What worries me is that Chris seems to look on Jase as cover for both BWP and Kermi on the bench whereas Jase is in fact (on present form) cover for neither.

I don't think hughes individual performances have contributed much to the results, however i will say that the presents of holding midfeilder has allowed Hollands and Wiggins more licence to attack. Which has effected the number of goals we have scored, if not the results.

But isn't that the whole point of a holding player? To do the boring stuff that doesn't get noticed, but lets the other players attack with confidence? Claude Makele was a crucial player for Chelsea, but you'd never notice him on the pitch. Not that I'm saying Hughes is the new Makele of course!

Like myself, you are defending Euell (within reason).

But I think your logic here is faulty. There is no point in our comparing ourselves with "the clubs in this division" in general. We only need to compare ourselves with the rest of "the big 6" (Sheff Wed and Utd, Huddersfield, Preston and Milton Keynes), i.e. those who could possibly threaten our automatic promotion place. If none of those have a better 4th choice striker (which may be the case, though I doubt it) then your point would be valid.

Personally I don't think he is quick enough to play up front. Maybe "in the hole" (though his ball-control has never been that great) or attacking midfield. Now, do any of the other members of "the big 6" have a better 4th choice attacking midfielder? I haven't a clue.

My point is I don't think he has been given any time of note to establish whether he is "past it". People thought Hughes was useless after a few sporadic appearances, but given a run and he has become more than useful.

If euell was given a few games with BWP, I have no doubt he would bring something to the side- whether it's goals or assists.

I thought Smith showed more in his 5 minutes than Jason did in his 85.

Maybe we should sticky this thread for the day that euell gets a run and scores a few goals? <cheers>

I just don't think he's past it. Career coming to an inevitable end- yes, but not over.

You must be getting the titanic confused with CAFC, AH. If that ship went down, Kate's, ermmmm, assets, would surely have kept it up!
